Guests and mothers. of the smaller children from here were, Barbara Reed and Mrs. Donald Reed, - Danny Faust and Mrs. Edwin Faust, David Whirledge and Mrs. Willis Whirledge, Richard Schrock and Mrs. Cletus . Schrock, Danny Schwab, Rickey Keim, Jerry LeCount, Grace and Joellen Larimer. Out-of-town guests were, Sandra Kay Thomas and Mrs. Gerald Thomas, Vickey, Chris and Tony Silveus and Mrs. Max Silveus, Steven and Barbara Kenny and Mrs. Edgar Kenny, Katha and Karen Huffer and Mrs. George Huffer, Bruce Hayden and Mrs. Charles Hayden, all of Syracuse. Mrs. . LeCount served as refreshments for the occasion a - large ~decorated birthday - cake and small cup cakes with ice cream. Various games were enjoyed by the youngsters during the afternoon. For the first time in the history of the town of Millersburg, this community was without a public eating place following the closing of Bowser’s Cafe here Sunday night. Charles Bowser, proprietor of the Cafe and restaurant for the past thirty years, gave as the reason for the closing, lack of help and a desire for a vacation for himself and Mrs. Bowser, who has been in ill health for some time. Rumors that another restaurant would open here soon 'could not be confirmed.

Pupils of grade one of the Millersburg school, and their teacher Miss Estelle Weigel, accompanied by Mrs. Harold Lockwood and Mrs. Merril Stiver enjoyed an interesting trip to the Wawasee State Fish Hatchery at Wawasee Lake recently. The guide, Mr. Miller, of Syracuse, pointed .out the turtles and the various species of beautiful fish. Following the tour the children were treated to ice cream cones. Mrs. Albert Groff, a licensed bus driver, was in charge of transportation.

Calvin Rogers as chairman, Albert Groff as vice-¢hairman, and Mrs. Ted Worthman, ‘secretary, have been chosen for the*Workers ‘Board staff of the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church.

Beaver Patrol of Troop 8, entertained at a party Thursday evening in the home of Larry Simmons. Guests were Scoutmaster Donald Reed and Mrs. Reed, assistant scoutmaster, Robert Long and Mrs. Long and the Chaplain, Rev. A. H. Miller. Following the business meeting short talks were given by each member and gifts presented to the officers. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. :

Ad Bickel, of six miles northeagh of Millersburg, has purchased “the 6-room frame residence. under ‘¢onstruction here “from Otho Penrose and plans to move his family into their new home early next spring. Mr. and Mrs. Penrose have located near Mishawaka, where the former is employed.

The fire department responded to a call to the Everett Perrin home a short distance east of town, Sunday, where a small building filled with _straw was destroyed by fire of - ‘an’ unknown origin. ,

Mrs. Enola, Barnard and Joe and John Chandler were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. John Hall. They spent the afternoon at the Hall cottage at Stienbarger lake.

Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Berkey, of Pasadena, Calif, were last Thursday overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Artie Berkey. Mrs. Anna Garman and Mrs. Kate Johnstonbaugh were in Elkhart Thursday, guests of Mrs. U. C. Waugh.

- Miss Ava Stiver and Mrs.. Florence Showalter gttended the Business & Professional Women’s club sectional conference at Wabash, Sunday.
