Miss - Florence Gangwer, sponsor of the school publication, “The Millerette,” announces that the paper has been awarded second place in Division II of the Sigma Delta Chi fraternity contest for the year ’4B and ’49. There were no first place awards for mimeographed papers; division of the schools participating are determined by the school population. This contest is sponsored by the Sigma Delta Chi fraternity of Indiana University. The papers ‘were exhibited at the State Fair last fall. Staff members who are proud of this special recognition given the Millersburg school are Junior Miller, Esther Brennamen, Don Sheline, Margaret Groff, Rose Ann Troyer, Herbert Moser, David Bartholomew, Marilyn Litwiller, Carol Petry, Keith Shaffer, Glen Showalter and Richard Groff. The Millerette annual has been dedicated this year to Jacob (Jake) Hartsough, a graduate of M.H.S. and veteran of World War 11, who died last Feb. 7 from injuries received in an accident at his farm home 5% miles northeast of Millersburg.

The Junior-Senior banquet will rbe held here Friday evening in ‘the school gymnasium with a Career Night theme. Guests wills be seated at tables with center arrangements illustrating various careers, under a canopy of red, white and blue streamers. Glen Showalter will act as toastmaster, Robert Musselman, class president, will give the welcome and‘ David Bartholomew will respond. The program will include songs by the boy’s quartet, several skits, Principal Lester Davis will speak on the theme and Miss Mary MecDowell, music and art instructor, will also speak. 2

Mr. Sharp, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sharp, was married and leaves two small children. He was a former resident of the Burr Oak community.

" Dick Schelemer of Burr Oak, lineman here for the Farmer’s Mutual Telephone Co., received painful injuries recently while shopping brush with an ax that rebounded, inflicting deep cuts to the top of his right foot. Mr. Schlemer was taken to the Goshen hospital for X-rays and the foot was dressed by Dr. L. H. Chandler,
Mrs. Gabe Lambert entertained members of .the Variety Club in her home in Goshen recently. Prizes at pinochle were won by Mrs. Delacy Kuhn and Mrs. Ervin Holtzinger. Mrs. Elnore Kull of Goshen will entertain at the lnext meeting.
The Luckey Eight bridge club held the regular meeting in the home of Mrs. Orville Musselman. Honors went to Mrs. Robert Bowlby and Mrs. Thad Green. Mrs. Edwin Cripe of Benton will ‘be hostess at the next meeting.
