The Genera] Culture Club held an election of officers at the September meeting with the following results: president, Mrs. Vearnon Schrock; vice-president, Agnes Kimmel; secretary, Mrs. Dallas Treesh; treasurer, Mrs. Corlyss LeCount; song leader, Mrs. Sanford Lantz; garden leader, Mrs. Grace Leer; outlook leader, Mrs. Jesse Botts; program planning leader, Mrs. Melvin Thomas; news reported, Mrs. Harold Lockwood; sickness, Miss Arvilla Stiver, project leaders, Mrs. Harry Roach, Mrs, Frank Klingaman, Mrs. John Greenwood, Mrs. Everett Minier, Mrs. Delbert Roderick, Mrs. Luther Juday, Mrs. Wayne Lantz and Mrs. Donald Reed. The club donated $25 to the Elkhart county Polio fund. .The club will again sponsor the 4-H girls achievement night to be held later this fall. Plans are being arranged for a family night to be held in October.
In an impressive candlelight investiture ceremony held Thursday evening in the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, ten girls of Scout Troop 1 were invested. As each scout lighted a taper and recited a troop rule, they were presented with a club pin by Mrs, Keith Keim, assistant scout leader, who conducted the program. Parents and Boy Scouts attended the services. The girls invested were Kay Green, Sandra Stoner, Bonnie Musselman, June Larimer, Nancy Kuhn, Marie Lockwood, Julie and Sue Likes, Mary Ann Rippey and Alice Lebold.
Mr. and Mrs. Lou Groff entertained members of the Booster Class Friday evening in their ‘home. President Herbert Stroup conducted the ‘business meeting and read the scripture from Psalm 33. Calvin Rogers gave the devotions. Miss Ella Mae Hooley gave an interesting resume and showed pictures of her European trip taken the past summer ‘months. Refreshments were served at the close of the evening. The next meeting will be held in the Icountry home of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Meese.
‘Mrs. Melvin Thomas was hostess to the Burr Oak Ladies Aid Thursday at an all-day meeting in the Thomas summer home at Lake Wawasee. A pot luck dinner wags served.
O. L. Baker, Allen Conrad, Ed LeCount and Walter and Kenneth Pletcher are on a fishing trip at Puckway Lake, Wis.,, this week.
Landon Berkey, Pearl Ulrey, Charles Blough and Roland Yoder of ‘Goshen and Fred Brown of Elkhart were here recently to visit with Bert Lantz and take him on a short auto trip.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marty spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Gus Rosentrader and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rosentrader and families of near ‘Churubusco.
Miss Evelyn Stroup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stroup who has been confined to her home recently by an ailment, remains about the same.
The Millersburg Lions Club will entertain the school faculty at a dinner Friday evening in the Solomon Creek Church. A specially arranged program will be given.
Mrs. L. B. Kalb was pleasantly surprised Tuesday evening when members of her family and Sunday school class met in the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ott of Goshen to observe her birthday anniversary. All members but two of her class were present and Mrs. Cora Rohrer and Mrs, Mary Haines were other guests. Mrs. Klab received numerous lovely gifts including a beautiful yellow chrysanthemum plant presented by the Sunday School class. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of a socially spent evening.
Mrs. Hazel Kline attended a birthday dinner for her sons Maurice and Merett held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Kline of west Goshen, Sunday. A cake attractively decorated and bedecked with candles was prepared by the hostess. Other guests present were Mrs. Merrett Kline
