~ An international invitational 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America and Canadian Boys and Girls Dairy Cattle show will be held in conjunction with the International Dairy Exposition at the Indiana state fairgrounds in Indianapolis October 8 through 15, Warren O’Hara, president, said this week. He outlined plans for the 4-H and FFA division’s dairy cattle exhibit, judging contest and camp which will be in the Youths’ buildings at the site of the Worlds Fair of the Dairy Industry.

Mr. O’Hara said the cattle exhibit will include seven classes for each of the following breeds: Ayrshire, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, Milking ‘Shorthorn and Red Poll. There also will be a championship and a shownmanship contest. Classes include senior heifer calves, junior yearling heifers, senior yearling heifers, cows two years and under three, cows three years and under four, cows four years and over, and state herd. Only one animal may be entered and shown in each class by an exhibitor. In vhe class for state herd, a state may shown not more than two groups of five animals each. Judging date is October 8.

' Entries in the cattle exhibit may 'be submitted through the state supervisor of vocaional agricul‘ture, or his authorzed agent, or by the state 4-H club leader, or his - authorized agent on blanks supplied by the management of the International Dairy Exposition. The state supervisor of vocational agriculture or the state 4-H Club leader is required to certify in writing as to the eligibilit&y of both exhibitors and animals. Entries from other countries may be made by the officially recognized authority in charge of that activity. Entries must be in the International Dairy Exposition office, 130 East Washington St, Indianapolis, not later than September 20. |

For the poultryman or the dairyman who wants to do the best possible job, the Summer Agricutlural Conference to be held at Purdue University on August 24 will offer ideas on some aspect of these types of farming each day.

On Wednesday morning, August 3, C. J. Echterling of the Purdue staff will demonstrate at the frozen foods program in Eliza Fowler Hall “Getting Poultsy f.Ready for the Locker.” lln the iafter.noon at the livestock and poultry breeding session in the old dairy barn pavilion, Gordeuk will discuss the “Chicken of Tomorrow.” The same afternoon, Roy E. Roberts of the poultry staff will talk on efficient feeding of poultry in "Agricultural Hall. A tour of the poultry plant will conclude the afternoon’s program. On Thursday afternoon, August 4 members of the poultry staff will give suggestionsg on fitting poultry housing to particular needs. The meeting will be at the poultry building.

Programs of concern to the dairyman, Guthrie points out, will begin with the session on the agricultural outlook in the Memorial Union Building Tuesday morning, August 2. In the afternoon at EliZa Fowler Hall, Dr. C. R. Donham, head of the department of veterinary science, will speak at the Rural Health program on “Progress in the Field of Animal Diseases Transmitted to Man.” Also on the samé afternoon, N. S. Lundquist of the dairy depart|ment, will speak on hay drying and its value to the dairyman in Agricultural Hall as part of the ‘hay and grain drying section. ‘ On Wednesday morning, dairymen will meet at the livestock judging pavilion for the better pastures program. They will later visit the dairy research farm where they will see comparative ladino clover-brome grass and alta fescue pastures. In the afternoon, they will attend the “Efficient Feeding” session in Agricultural Hall. In Thursday morning, they will hear a talk on “Miik Houses That Meet Grade A Standards” by G. A. Williams, extension dairyman. All morning sessions begin at 8:30 o’clock and afternoon sessions at 1:30 o’clock, CST. :
