4-H COMMITTEE, NOBLE CO. FARM BUREAU DIRECTORS, IMPROVE 4-H FACILITIES

On last Monday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m., thirty 4-H parents, 4-H club committee members, Farm Bureau Directors and Fair Board members met at the Fair Grounds ready to cement the floors in the Boys and Girls bunk houses. By 9 o’clock, work had begun in both buildings with six cement mixers in operation. At 11:30, the group were guests of the Fair Association for lunch and at 12:15 were back at work. The work progressed rapidly and as the group neared the end at 4 o’clock, they enjoyed 150 pounds of watermelon furnished by the County Farm Bureau.

The materials were largely donated—Northern Indiana Sand-and Gravel Company of Wolcottville donated sand and gravel, the Co. Co-Op, Kendallville Lumber Co., and Cline Lumber Co. furnished half the cement, the Fair purchasing the other half and hauling the sand and gravel. Earl Swartz of Kendallville and Joe Houser supervised the cementing. Those participating in the work were as follows: Ray Glass, Harold Thomas, Fred Forker, Glex Rimmel, Clinton Rimmel, Bernard Haines, Carl Harvey, Fair Board; R. C. McDowell, Noble twp.; Keith Becker, Alton Parker, Jefferson twp.; Ellsworth Peterson, Gary Peterson, Fred Harggart, Elbert Roe, Perry twp.; Lester Keefer, Eugene Richards, Bob Richards, Elkhart twp.; Dale Schinbeckler, William Kurtz, Walter Kern, Wayne twp.; Hugh Sherwin, Washington twp.; J. C. Roscoe, John Weber for Claude Surfus and Walter Stout, Albion and York twp.; Emory Hoffman, H. J. Black for Joe Schermerhorn, Orange twp.; Glen Arehart, Dave Horsewood, Green twp.; Dalton Rhodes, Kendallville; Whonsetler of Swan twp.; Keith Barhan, Allen twp., and J. L. Guthrie, Noble County Agent.

There is no question but what the cement floors will be a great improvement over the dirt floors.
