SCHROCK — HOSTETLER

-~ The wedding of Miss Hazel Schrock, R. N., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noah J. Schrock of Topeka, Indiana, to John Andrew Hostetler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. Hostetler of Kalona, lowa, took place at 1:30 o’clock at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Topeka, Ind. Officiating at the ceremony was Harold S. Bender, a minister of the Mennonite Church and Dean of the Biblical Seminary of Goshen College. In a brief message preceding the ceremony, he spoke on the divine institution of the home.

An octette consisting of Mary Moyer, [Eileen Conrad, Lois Shanky Grace Stahl, David Shank, Ralph Buckwalter, Albert Buckwalter and Ralph Wade sang several selections from the Church hymnal and hummed a German Volksweise taken from the noted Evangeliums Lieder during the ceremony.

A reception was heid at the bride’s home, where refreshments were "served to about 75 guests. Those present enjoyed a period of group singing in the afternoon. The bride’s two sisters, Beulah and Margaret Schrock served as maids of honor. Little Ann Lehman accompanied the bridal party as flower girl. Accompanyinz the groom was Calvin Redekop, a friend of the groom and senior student of Goshen College from Mountain Lake, Minnesota. Ushers at the wedding were Lyle Schrock, Ray Horst, Eugene Blosser and Harold Hooley. The bride is a graduate of the Topeka high school. She attended Goshen College and was graduated from the La Junta Mennonite School of Nursing at La Junta, Colorado, with the class of ’47. She has, since August ’4B, been employed by Dr. K. M. Lehman in Topeka. Mr. Hostetler graduated from Heston College Academy in 1945 and is receiving his B. A, degree this year at Goshen College. Mr. Hostetler is a native of Bellville, Pa., but grew to manhood mear Kalona, lowa. Since 1946, he has been a student of Bible and history at Goshen College.

Guests from a distance at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hostetler, Kalona, lowa, ‘ The new couple will reside at 1306 South Eighth St., Goshen, during the summer months. They plan to make their home mear Belleville, Pa., beginning September 1. Mr. Hostetler will attend Pennsylvania State College where he has been accepted as a gradu ate student in the field of Rural Sociology. -

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Emmert and sons of Elkhart were Saturday evening guests of Mr .and Mrs. Ira Bowman. Sunday evening luncheon guests of the Bowmans were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bowman and son of LaPorte.

Sixty-five relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Barrett, Sunday, to help celebrate the 87th birthday of Mr. Barrett’s mother. A basket dinner was served at noon. Open house was held from two until four in the afternoon. A three-tired birthday cake centered the refreshment table and the room was filled with many beautiful gifts and flowers.
