The 4-H Fair is coming to town —yes, the “Little 4-H Fair” 'is coming to town — that is, Fort Wayne, the week of March 8 to 12. Wolf and Dessauer Dept. Store in Fort Wayne has offered the use of their auditorium to 4-H clubs in the northeastern part of the state for an exhibit during National 4-H Club Week. Allen, DeKalb, Whitley, Noble and Huntington and Wabash Counties are cooperating in an effort to make this an outstanding display which will be equally as interesting and instructive to the city boys and girls as to the rural. :
The cooperation and help of all 4-H club leaders, parents and members in Noble County is solicited. A special feature of the exhibit will be the livestock show consisting of calves, pigs, lambs, poultry and rabbits. Booths depicting the various activities in 4-H club work will be set up with special emphasis on project accomplishments. The public is invited.
Noble County 4-H Club girls will be represented by typical 4-H club cakes, canned items and some clothing. The Noble County boys 4-H clubs will be represented by a dairy calf, a little black lamb, mint, 10 ear sample of corn, onion, potatoes and a 4-H Forestry leaf and seed collection.
- Don’t forget, National 4-H Club Week, March 8 to 12. Hours for the display will be the same as those of the Wolf and Dessauer Store.
A County Dairy Herd Improvement Association banquet will be held Wednesday evening, March 15 at the Sparta Church in Kimmell. All farmers interested in the improvement of Dairy Industry are invited to attend. Mr. E4d Gannon, Purdue Dairy Specialist will discuss ‘“Advantage of a Roughage Program for the Dairyman.” d Tickets for the banguet may be purchased from directors of the County Association—Claude Surfus, Roger Stuckman, Russell Mangus, Kenneth Berkes, Gerhard Krull or Melvin Munk or the Co. Agent’s office, Albion. Tickets should be purchased before Saturday, March 12. .
“Agitated Abe,” a magically suspended manikin who cannot make up his mind, will be one of the eight features in the “Dairy Day” exhibits which will be in the Kendallville School on March 2h. :
“Agitated Abe” who seemingly stands suspended in thin air has been attracting many farmers to the exhibit ‘Herd Health.” There farmers have been talking with E. A. Gannon, dairy extension specialit and having many of their own dairy questions answered. In the display “Agitated Abe” does not know whether to apply artificial breeding in his program or to go on as he has been doing in the past. Many farmers have found themselves “agitated” and they will be able to have many of their questions answered by the Purdue Dairy specialist who will be with the exhibits. 4 Other exhibits which will be on display when Dairy Day comes 4o Noble County are “Control of Cattle Grubs” by three methods, spraying, washing and dusting;

“Farm Safety,” a guide to prevent dairy accidents and injuries;
“Methods of Curing Hay,” a comparison of different curing methods to prevent heavy loss of its nutritive value; “Ladino,” a demonstration of seeding and management and its value in pastures; “Herd Health,” a demonstration of why cows leave home or why Indiana dairymen ~are forced to raise 60 per cent more heifers for replacements under existing conditions than is actually necessary, and “Home Pasteurization,” a demonstration showing how to pasteurize milk. i
A herringbone twill pinafore and a green denim coverall apron are two items to be modeled by 13 county farm women on Dairy Day in the Kendallville gym according to an announcement made by Sylvia Stevens, Noble County Home Agent. A dress revue styling clothes farm women could wear in dairy work is one of the new additions to Purdue - University’s Dairy Caravan which is on a tour into 33 counties. The revue, a feature added this year to attract the farm women to the dairy program ,is under the direction of Miss Lorraine Amy, extension home economist from Purdue University. The dress review has been well received in the counties where it has been shown and according to Miss Amy, farm women as well as many men have been interested in the dairy clothes styled in the dress revue. Besides the revue, there will be eight Purdue exhibits combined with the local milk industrial displays for Noble County’s Dairy Day Fair. Four Purdue specialists, F. R. Willsey, Earl Stitcher, Frank DeLaCroix, Dr. F. A. Hall and Miss Amy will represent Purdue University at the Caravan’s Fair:
