MILLERSBURG ECHOES
A five-mile hike and cook-out breakfast with scoutmaster Wayne Lantz early Saturday morning completed preliminary training for four of the eight tenderfoot scouts who will be advanced to second clasg scouts in an investiture service Thursday evening in the social rooms of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
The boy’s and girl’s g?ee club of the Millersburg high school concluding a series of sacred concerts .recently have been invited to sing in a program to be held at 7 o’clock Sunday evening in the Church of the Brethren, corner of Fifth and Clinton sts., Goshen. According to conductor Miss Mary McDowell, contributions from appreciative audiences in previous concerts, amounting to $226 will be used toward payment of new robes purchased by the club.
Mrs. William MecGill entertained twenty-two members of the M. H. S. senior class and Miss Phyllis Shieber of Goshen at a surprise party Thurday evening, honoring her son Lowell’s birthday anniversary. The guests enjoyed games of bunco and light refreshments during the evening.
Members of the Millersburg Sunshine Society will hold a bake sale in the Millersburg hardware Saturday morning.
Mrs. Keith Keim entertained informally a group of friends Satuday evening in her home observing the birthday anniversary of Mr. Keim.
- Mr, and Mrs. William Robinson of North Manchester were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry France.
Hugh Showalter was a guest on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Immel of Fort Wayne.
Coach Corlyss M. LeCount and members of the varsity, second string and seventh and eighth grade basketball squads attended the game between the professional Zollner Pistons and Washington “Capitol basketball teams at the north side gym in Fort Wayne Sunday evening. v
Ten members of the Variety. club were entertained Wednesday evening in the home of Mrs. Thad Green. Prizes at pinochle for the evening were won by Mrs. Robert Bowlby and Mrs.¢ Wilbur Musselman. Mrs. Gabe Lambert will be hostess to the March meeting.
Mrs. H. C. Moore and son of Washington, D.C. are spending some time with their grandmother, Mrs. Enola Barnard,
Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Rink, Fred Rink, Mrs. William Kurtz, Frank Rink, Mrs. Lawrence Cripe from here and Chauncy Rink of Goshen attended the funeral services of Henry Rink in Elkhart Saturday afternoon. Mr. Rink and family were residents of Millersburg a number of years ago.

John Sebastian, harmonica virtuoso, will be in Goshen Friday, February 11 to play the harmonica in the high school auditorium at 8:15 as the second concert of the 1948-49 series presented by the Goshen Community Concert Association.
Miss Lottie Growcock has returned to her home after an extended visit in the home of Mr, and Mrs. August Shava of Goshen.
Miss Ramona Marty spent the week end in Laporte, guest of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marty and daughter, Gail.
Mr. and Mrs. Willis Whirledge attended a dinner party Sunday in the home of the farmer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Whirledge, honoring the elder Mr. Whirledge’s birthday. . :

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Larimer, who resides 5 miles northeast of Millersburg, quietly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by entertaining their children, grandchildren and' - great-grandchildren at dinner last Sunday. Mrs. Larimer, who is a daughter of the late Patrick Pence, and Mr. Larimer have lived in this community all their life. They had 10 children, eight of who are still living.
Mrs. Paul Rink and daughter Kay left Thursday for Kentucky to visit friends.
Ramona Marty spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marty in LaPorte.

Enroute from Detroit to Ligonier to attend the funeral of an uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Walter White and children met with an automobile accident near Waterloo. Mrs. White is confined to the Auburn hospital as a result of the accident.
