CARL HARVEY WINS COUNTY 5-ACRE CORN CONTEST Carl Harvey of Jefferson Towniship again won the county 5-acre trophy by producing 162.9 bushels per acre. According to County Agent J. L. Guthrie this is_the highest yield ever reported for Noble County. This was a 608 hybrid seed field that had been in blue grass pasture for a number of years. Before the field was plowed, however, 200 pounds of amonia nitrate was drilled on to be plowed under and 200 pounds of 3-12-12 was used in the row. Rows were 38 inches apart. Moisture at time the yield wa§ checked was 31.7 percent. settled, and the die is cast, they accept the verdict in a spirit of good humor. And that’s as it should be when it comes to any difference of opinion. Some folks vote for beer as their favorite beverage—others vote for cider. In fact, we all have differences of taste in almost everything! But that doesn’t mean that we can’t live together in a spirit of good fellowship.
