- INDIANA-MICHIGAN START CONSTRUCTION - ON LARGE PLANT
~ The contract for sub—structure’ erection, concrete work and generral building construction of the Tanners Creek plant of Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, located on the banks of the) Ohio river outside Lawrenceburg,‘\lnd.,i has been awarded to the George F. Hazelwood- Company of Cumberland, Maryland. 5 The announcement was made known this week by Philip Sporn, president of American Gas & Electric Service Corporation, thru C. V. Sorenson, vice-president and general manager of Indiana & Michigan Electric Company.
The construction work to be done by the Hazlewood Company will cost approximately $2,000,000 Mr. Sorenson said. Construction of the Tanners Creek station is ‘expected to be started by the middle of December. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in December, 1950. At the peak of construction, the Hazlewood company will have 500 men working at Tanners Creek, it was revealed. ,
The site of the new plant, for which ground was broken September 1 of this year, comprises some 200 acres of land and lies just north of the town limits of Lawrenceburg, Indiana in Dearborn County. The plant itself will cost
