An error was made last week in the article of the new County Home Economies Club Council officers. =~ Mrs. Grace Rogers of Albion is the new County President instead of Mrs. Grace King as wag previously stated. -—_— ; Noble County will be well represented at the B & O Vegetable Judging and Identification Contest to be held Thursday, November 11 in connection with the State Muck Crops Show at Walkerton, Indiana. : - Dale Schinbeckler of Kendallville high school will have at least 16 boys entered in the contest. and Maurice Marshall, Ag teacher of Avilla will have at least 12 entered. ‘ These boys and girls are compeing for awards given by B & O Railroad and expenses paid to the National Vegetable Judging Contest held in Detroit early in December.

November 1-7 was National 4-H Club Achievement Week. Noble County 4-H clubs will be having ocal 4-H Club achievement programs throughout November in connection with township Farm Bureau meetings. The 4-H Policy Committee has announced that Denice Baker of Sparta township and Claude Hoffman of Orange township will receive an expense paid trip to the International at Chicago from November 27-29. This is awarded to the outstanding boy and girl in club work for 1948.

County medals of honor are given .to the outstanding girl in the county enrolled in 4-H projects according to Sylvia Stevens, Home Agent. These will include Denice Baker, Sparta, Clothing Medal; Dorothy Baker, Sparta, canning; Margaret Muesing, Wayne, 4-H Girls Record; Norma Jean Stangland, Noble; Ardith Stump, York; Jo Ann Yoder, Elkhart; Ann Franks, Elkhart. Each will receive home improvement medals. Outstanding girls in food preparation who will receive awards from commerical concerns are Linda Schermerhorn, Orange; Juanita Nott, Orange; Rena Ann Calbeck, Sparta; Sharon Castator, Wayne; Jacqueline Bunger, Sparta; Marlene Duesler, Perry will receive the baking prizes. - This is a busy week for those people helping to organize Noble County for the C.R.O.P. Drive, (Christian Rural Overseas Program) to be held November 18, 19 and 20 according to Ellsworth Peterson, County Chairman.

The local elevators have been contacted and have pledged their facilities for the drive. Corn, oats, soybeans, etc. donated on the drive will be taken to the local elevator and sold and the money used to buy wheat. For wheat is the most wanted item in Europe. The Farm Bureau, Home Economics, Grange and the County Churches have their solicitors selected and are ready to go out and do the collectitg the latter part of nmext week. These folks

Bring your “white elephants” and other useful things that you might not need. but that someone else can use. The money from the sale will be converted into wheat.
