sidered one of the most beautiful of Hollywood actresses, lives in bachelor girl splendor in a small Hollywood apartment. “WHAT'S YOUR FORMULA for breaking into radio?” we asked of

John Raby (male lead in NBC When A Girl Marries'program) and strangely enough his answer, “just decide to be a shepherd and you’ll- likely as not end up in radio,” is exactly how John got

there. With ticket to Texas to herd sheep, he attended an N. Y-dramat-ic Academy performance and the director convinced him to cign-up for a 2 year course in acting. He did, finished with flying colors and was alternating between Broadway and summer stock (10 years ago) when a talent scout offered him an audition for a new radio program . . . When A Girl Marries . . . and John has been in the cast ever since except for 4 years in the army. IF A MAN NEEDS INCENTIVE to be a success, Dennis Day, NBC's Saturday song-man on “A Day In The Life Of Dennis Day” has had his share. Dennis has a list of loving Irish relatives a mile long and

a devoted wife. " Irish luck helped too and the fact that he always respects the traditional superstitions. Dennis sold papers in the . Bronx as a kid Eand beach equipment later to pay his college tuition. |

YOUTH FOR CHRIST TO SHOW SOUND’ FILM ~ Underwater sounds never = before heard by human ears is the dramatic subject-of a new Moody Bible Institute science film, “Voice of the deep” to be shown at 7:30 Saturday at the Noble-LaGrange Youth for Christ meeting in Brimfield. e Produced in full cplor and sound by Dr. Irwin A. Moon, the film makes obsolete the old saying about the “silent deep,” Garibaldi, snapping shrimp, porpoises, croakers and other marine animals are heard for the first time making their unique fish noises into the hydrophone( underwater microphone). A = Discovery that fish talk was made accidently during the war. The United States Navy, intending to use the hydrophone to warn of the approach of enemy craft, submerged a network of the delicate instruments into the waters of Chesapeake Bay. But on their

}first trial, the hydrophone indicated enough noise in the bay for the entire German Navy, thousands of miles away. : Baffled researchers set out to find the cause. Their conclusion disaproved a scientific theory that was centuries old, for they found that a school of croakers, not the German Navy, had been responsible for the mysterious sounds. Later investigation into underwater sounds was made by the University of California’s Division
