MILLERSBURG ECHOES

A fair sized crowd witnessed the annual Halloween parade on Friday evening in the school gym sponsored by the local Lions Club. The youngsters, doing. a fine job of impersonating, gave judges Mrs. Luther Juday, Mrs. Willis Lantz, Mrs. Everett Minier, Misses Arvilla Stiver and Betty Vance, Isaac Risner, Ora Eash and Floyd Kauffman a difficult time selecting winners of the various groups. Rating top honors in the Best Couple class were Roger Putman and Patsy Cripe, Mary and Sharon Bowlby, Johnny and Tommy Holtzinger; Bést Character, Lydia Lantz, Stephen Likes, Ronny Stabler; Funniest, Jack Larimer, Jau Mussleman, Julia Likes; Most Original, Robert Larimer, Robert Owen, Martha Stroup; Most Attractive, Sue Ellen Likes, Susan Larimer, Nancy Cooper; Ugliest, Bobby McGill, Roy Swineheart and Paul Bartholomew.

Robert Moser of the Millersburg school with a total of six prize winning exhibits was Grand Prize Winner at the F.F.A. Crop Show held in conjunction with the Halloween program Friday evening in the school gym. , Pupils from Millersburg, Clinton community, Benton, Juday and Hex schools competed in this show which was a revival of similar ones held here a number of years ago. Premium ribbons awarded to the first, second and. third exhibits in their respective classes were :Ear Corn, Don ~Sheline, Joe Prough, Dale Showalter; Largest Ear, Glen Showalter, Sandra Stoner; PopCorn, Joe Prough, Robert Moser, Glen Showalter; Potatoes, Joe Prough, Harold Showalter, Robert Moser; Large Potatoes, Sandra Stoner, Don Sheline; Sweet Potatoes, Sandra Stoner, Glen Showalter, Wilbur Slabach; Carrots, ‘Glen _Showalter, Ronald Miller; Pumpkins, Robert Moser, Ronald Miller; Largest Pumpkin, Ronald Miller; Largest Squash, Jim Redman; Hubbard Squash, Jim Redman; Acorn Squash, Robert Moser; Cabbage, Ronald Miller, Jack Miller, Jean Davis; Brown Eggs, Jim Redman, Glen Showalter; Oats, Wilbur Slabach, Galen Hite, Robert Owen; Wheat, Robert Larimer, Robert Moser, Jim Redman; Soy Beans, obert Owen, Robert Moser; Shelled Corn, Glen Showalter, Robert Moser, Allen Fisher.

The Zion Evangelical and Reformed church beautifully decorated with fruits and flowers of the garden and field was the scene of the annual Harvest Home Festival Sunday. Rev. Matthew Worthman of Blufften, Ing., president of the Indiana-Michigan Synod was the guest speaker for the morning and evening services. Mr. and Mrs. Ora Botts who were observing their 38 wedding anniversary and the birthday of Mr. Botts Sunday were honored guests at a family dinner in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Botts of - near Ligonier. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Botjs and, daughter Barbara and son Gary, and Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Blue of Ligonier.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Clodfelter of Middlebury held a basket dinner in the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Method, Sunday. Mrs. Method has been confined to her home recently by partial blindness.

The Girl’s Glee club of the Millersburg school is presenting gred concerts in the Clinton and nton’ churches to defray expenses for new blue robes purchased recently by the music department.
