“Unreality” was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, October 3. ;
The Golden Text was: “The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light” (Romans 13:12). . Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: “For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. For ye see _@four calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, notmany noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which gge2 ;’r)fighty” (I Corinthians 1:19,
The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passage from the Christian Science textgook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy: “Through astronomy, natural history, chemistry, music, mathematies, thought passes naturally from effect back to cause. Academics of the right sort are requisite. Observation, invention, study, and original thought are expansive and should promote the growth of mortal mind out of itself, out of all that is mortal” (p. 195).
