‘Mr. 'and Mrs. Gerald Johnson spent Friday and Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Johnson at Teegarden. &

Mrs. Ruth Homsher of Kendallville spent several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Stigner and on Sunday, they visited Mr. and Mrs. Harry Franks at Warsaw.

‘Mrs. Wilma Smith was hostess to the Dorcas Class on Thursday night.

Twelve of the W.F.C. girls including their leader, Mrs. Francis Myers met at the home of Doris and | Joanne Donley on Thursday evening. It proved to be strictly a business meeting. Plans were made for the Bake Sale and the entertainment for the Bazaar, which is to be Friday evening, October 22. Refreshments of ice cream and cake wele served.

Mrs. Margie Coffman entertained the W.S.C.S. at her home on Wednesday. A pot-luck dinner was served and a comfort finished for the Bazaar. Other plans were discussed for the Bazaar. :

ELKHART COUNTY -TO VOTE ON HEALTH DEPT.

The question of a full-time county health department for Ekhart County will bé on the ballot November 2 as a result of a petition, carrying over 5,000 signatures of resident freeholders, ’recently submitted to the county commissioners.

It is now up to the voters to decide whether to retain the present set-up administered by part-time local departments in Elkhart, Goshen, Nappanee and a fourth serving that part of the county not included in the above cities, or to establish a coordinated full-timé health service administered under one head for the entire county. > The recommendation of a unified health program for Elkhart County is nothing new. The establishment of a full-time health department was also recommended by James Hamilton Associates =of Minneapolis as a result of a survey that firm conducted last spring.
