TOMATOES—-ripe and rosy red—are in abundance now. And they’ve never been better. Neither have those tender, young ears.of cog; been sweeter to the taste. : course there .are countless wayB to serve tomatoes, just as there are hundreds of corn recipes, but Nancy Holmes of the Best Foods consumer kitchens comes up with the suggestion that you team the two. And pardon the “corn”, for she’s named her dish Corny Tomatoes. Corny Tomatoes : 6 firm ripe toma- 3; cup mushtoes : rooms, sliced Salt and pepper 1 cup corn, 2 teaspoons cOoke%— onion, chopped 1 egg slightly 3 tablespoons beaten . vitaminized 1 teaspoon salt margarine % teaspoon 2 tablespoons pepper green pepper, < : chopped Wash tomatoes, cut slice from top of each, scoop out center pulp and reserve. Sprinkle tomato shell with salt and pepper. Saute onion and green pepper’ in vitaminized margarine; Add mushrooms, corn, egg and seasonings to sauteed mixture; mix well. Fill tomatoes. Place in greased baking dish and cover the bottom of dish with hot water. Bake in moderately hot oven (375°F.) 15-20 minutes. Yield: 6 servings.

Lawn Manor Synagoge in Chicago last Saturday morning. Jackie, who became thirteen years of age this monh, attended the service in the Synagoge and was called to the speakers dais, according to tradition, where the Rabbi asked him to read part of the service in Hebrew. His aunts and uncles gave a party in honor of the oc—casion in Chicago and upon returning home, he was the guest of honer at a reception given by Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Barch for members of the Ligonier Temple.
