Notice is hereby given the tax—payers of Ligonier, Noble County, Indiana, that the proper legal of—ficers of said municipality at their regular meeting place at 7:30 o’clock p.m., on the 9th day of Aug—ust, 1948, will consider the follow—ing additional appropriations which said officers consider neces—sary to meet the extraordinary emergency existing at this time.

Dwight Hooten and Mrs. Glen Hooten of Kendallville left Tues—day morning for West Liberty, lowa to be with Mrs. Mary Hawk—er, who entered Mercy Hospital in lowa City for surgery on Thursday. Mr. Hooten returned home on Saturday and Mrs. Hooten re—mained in the Hawker home to assist in the care of the family.

Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hooten and Mrs. Ruby Schwab were in Logansport on Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hooten., Mrs, Hooten is very ill.

The Gaines Dog Research Center, New York City, has advised The Banner that it is offering $1,125 in prizés for good, interesting dog pictures in a contest sponsored as part of the approaching observance of National Dog Week this fall.

In order that all interested in| photography may have a fair chance for the prize money, entries will be accepted in three distinct classifications: 1) Amateurs; 2) Members of camera clubs; and 8) Professional photographers. In each of the first two groups there is a first prize of $250, a second of $75 and a third of $25, while in the professional photegrapher class there is but a single prize of $350. In the Camera Club classification, an additional $25 prize will go to each of three clubs which the winners of first, second and third prizes will have named as their membership affiliation.
