Boden—hafer of the Noble Circuit Court at Albion, ordered the Noble County Welfare Department to assume the custody and control of Harrie Sue, James, Gloria and John Harp, minor children of Doyle E. Harp of Orange Township and Leona M. Hollman of 1161 West Main St., Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Regarding the dependency allow—ances legislation, Mr. Uhl stated ‘hat veterans will not be permitted to receive dependency allowances from more than one source at a Jme (this law and subsistence illowances from Public Law 346 or Public Law 16), but they may choose to receive whichever de—pendency allowance rate brings them the higher amount.
At present, the children are to remain in the care of the father at his farm home and the Welfare Department may permit visité to the mother.
Judge Bodenhafer stated that because itl is an accepted fact that children can be better reared in a farm home than in a city he recom—mended that the children remain on the farm with the father from whose control they were trans—ferred to the Welfare Department. However, Judge Bodenhafer stated, if the mother, from whom they were taken and awarded to the father, in the original divorce hearing in 1944, was living in a farm or rural home, he would have readily returned the children who desired it, to their mother.

An illustrated 55 page booklet on Indiana birds, published by the State Department of Conservation now is ready for distribution. “This is not a technical book but instead, is a readable, descriptive publication issued solely for the benefit of the thousands of ama—teur bird lovers in our state,” said John H. Nigh, director of the Department. “We feel that it is an answer to a long felt' need.”
Forty eight eommon resident birds—those that spend the entire year in some section of Indiana—are described in the booklet. An illustration accompanies each ar—ticle.
There also are sections devoted to such subjects as bird watching and the building of simple bird houses and feeding stations. The colored cover proudly displays the
