At death, the ungodly are said to go DOWN into hell. “Go down quickly into hell,” *“shall be brought down to hell,” “cast them down to hell”, ete. : At death, believers go up to be with Christ. The apostle Paul once said that he had “the desire to depart and be with Christ” (Phil. 1:23). The word translated “depart” means TO LOOSE AWAY UPWARD; (to loose anchor). For a Christian, physical death is when the soul looses away upward to be with Christ and -loved ones, which is very far better than to remain in the flesh.
