Judge Cunningham speaks un: “It’s all right to worry about conserving our natural resoureces,” he says, “but there’s a far bigger problem when it comes to conservation—and that’s preserving our democratic way of life, pur sense of personal freedom, our respect for one another’s rights.”

COLD TIME IS HERE

THE first chilly, damp days of fall and winter herald the beginning of head cold season, The most contagious of all known diseases, colds may infect everybody in a school, office, home or factory. The early symptoms of a cold are dryness of the nose and throat, chilliness and sneezing. Should the process continue there may be headache, sore thr--t, cough and fever. It is very unwise to look lightly upon these symptoms for they are, too. the early signs of serious contagious diseases such as influenza, scarlet fever, measles and whooping cough, If your child has these symptoms, don’t send him to school where he might start an epidemie, : ‘ - \When getting a cold, isolate yourself so as not to infect others. Go to bed and stay there. Drink fluids and eat lightly of simple, noutishing food. Very few colds will develop into serious illness if care is taken at the very start. Some people taking down with a cold begin putting drops in their nose, rubbing medicated oils on their chest, taking eathartics and attempting to alkalize themselvés. Bome of these treatmients only make the patient feel more uncomfortable, : A well-balanced diet, proper rest and recreation, wise tse of leisuré, and sufficient elothing ‘'should be observed if oné would avoid colds. Colds and sore throats jcome more frequently after atmospheric temperatures have fdropped, - = .. &
