2Lzl ~ TIRES | GIVE YOU GREATER | PROTECTION AGAINST SKIDDING AND BLOWOUTS

YOU‘will know the minute you see this tire why car owners everywhere call it the greatest tire ever made to sell at these low prices. The deeper, wider, flatter non-skid tread made of tough, long wearing rubber will give you protection against dangerous skidding. ‘ - But tires cannot be judged on tread alone. Under the tread of Firestone Standard Tires are two extra layers of Gum-Dipped cords. This Firestone patented construction feature binds the tread and cord body into one inseparable unit. Every cotton fiber in every cord in every ply is saturated and coated with pure liquid rubber which counteracts the internal friction and heat that ordinarily destroy tire life, This Firestone patented process

of Gum-Dipping gives greater protection against blowoutsand is used only in Firestone Tires. : ' - Come in, join the Firestone Save A Life Campaign today by equipping your car with a set .of new Firestone Gum-Dipped Tires. DO YOU KNOW THAT last year highway accidents cost the lives of more than 38,000 men, women and children? - THAT a- million more were injured? PastuTe, Protein Feeds Save Corn

For Hogs By C. M. Vestal Agricultural Experiment Siation Purdue University

‘While Indiana is in a much better position in regard to the corn supply than somp of the states In the western part of the corn belt, many farmers in this siate do nor Lay, sufficient corn to feed out the pigs that they now have on hand. Sa‘table substitutes for corn in the hoe ration are usually hard to fing at economical prices at the present time, however, wheat and oacs ave chiay enough in price to be used in the place of a part of the corn in the ration. ’ : In connection with the prob.om or making a limited supply of corr geo txtiier in hog feeding, facrmars are int2-ested in the amount of corn that can be saved by the use of ¢hs supplementary feeds, as well as the substitute feeds. The present feed situa ation is. such, that every farmer should give this matter werlous congideration. :

It has been shown that where hogs are fed corn alone in dry lot, ten or more bushels of corn are required to produce one-hundred pounds of gaftn. Feeding tests have shown that in some cases as many as twelve to fourteen bushels of corp are required. Hogs that are fed a ration of corn and tankage require only about seven bushels of corn and thirty te farty pounds of tankage for 100 pounds gain. From these results it is calculated that one-hundred pounds of tankage gaves approximate ly ten bushels of corp when fed with the corn to fattening hogs in dry lot. At the present time, 100 pomrg; of tankage can be bought for approxrmately $3.10. The ten bushels of corp saved by feeding the 100 pounds of tankage are wgrth at least $12.00 when figured gt present prices. The feeding of the tankage with the corn effects a great saving in the cost of gain, but also saves corn which may ‘be fed to other hogs. Where tankage is added to a full-feed of corn and legume pasture, an average saving of about three and one-half bushels of corn is made for each 100 pounds of tankage fed. While tankage is used for illustration, the pro-tein-rich supplements like skim milk, buttermilk, soybean oil meal, and others give similar advantages in feeding. v : One of the best meang of saving corn and other concentrate feeds in pork production is to supply hogs with plenty of good pasture. Good pasture saves from 10 to 20 per cent of grain in the production of hogs.

“Soul and Body” was the subject of the Lesson-Sermop in all Churches of Christ, Scientist on Sunday May 23 ; The Golden Text was: “Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, Q Lord, do I lift up my soul” (Psalms 86:4). Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in . the heavens, Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit” (II Corinthians b5:l, 65).. “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameess unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (I Thessaonians 5: 16-18,23). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptufres” by Mary Baker Hddy: 41f we rise no higher than blind faith, the Science of healing is not attained, and Soul-existence, is not attained, and Soul-existence, in the place of sense-existence, is not com prehended. We apprehend Life in divine Science only as we live above corporea] .gense and corret it. . . . Ther, is but one way—namely, God and Hig idea—which leads to spiritual being” (p. 167). “When we fully iunderstand our relation to the Divine, wo can have no other Mind but iHis,—no other Love, wisdom, or ‘Truth, no other sense of Life, and lno consciousness of the existence of matter or error” (p. 205).
