More than @wenty million wall-eye pike, being artificially propagateq at the Wawagee and Tri-Lakes state fish hatcheries, will be planted in suitable Indiana lakes and streams this month Virgil M. Simmons, commissioner of the department of conservation said Approximately seventeen and a half million wall-eyes were planted in 1936. Two hundred quarts of eggs were ‘placed in special containers at the two hatcheries about ten days ago }ax-.-" have been kept in constant ciricul:gtion. The food is firm, flakey-white and of appetizing flavor It is ‘usually found in clear water with rock, sand, gravel or hard clay bottom and is preferable a lake fish. The pike is voracious, feeding largely on minnows and crawfish and reaches a maximum weight of abouf {twenty-five pounds.

Last year Miller killed 406 rafs on his farm northeast of Geneva. Besides shis he killed two cats, 26 mice one ’possum and 20 sparrows. Mil. ler's feat ranks with the Pied Pip.r’s ‘because Miller fs blind and he uses no flute or sweet music. He catches his rats with steel traps and his blindness has not been a handican.
