Adairs, chairman of the State Highway Con mission reported. Weather conditions during the past few weeks have been vnusually favorable for highway construction. " Several bridges, grade separations and sections of improved highways, part of the 1936 state higzhway improvement program have already been opened to traffic and others will be opened in the next few weeks Thig early completion of state highway improvement projects is due to the advance planning of the State Highway Commission, Projects were selected and plans prepared on a majority of the Improvements included in the 1936 program during the past year. ' To Invest Purdue Pund. The 3340,000 endowment fund upon which Purdue University was founded will be invested in government bouds, Laurence F. Sullivan, Louu auditor, announced. ! The investment will be made unider a 1926 amendxent to the original congressional measure providing that the money may be Invested In government bonds without guarantee of 5 per cent interest. Sullivan indicated the next session of the stare _egislature wou'd be asked to cowply with the 18%¢ amendment which also provided that the required Interes: rate of S per cent may be reduced upon the authority of the state bodles. " The annual cost of $13.000 of maintaining the required Interest om the fund will be made np from the state general fund, Sullivan sald Mr. and Mrs. Basil Needham of Fort Wayne spent Saturdsy night and Sunday with Mrs. Retta Rimmel.
