Frost Menace to Water Plpes}

Persong arg urged to continue leav ing at least one water tap open in order to prevent freezing of service lines. : The moderation in:the weather has made the water condition more acute and many - additional - service lines have been frozen recently. ' Warmer weather has sent the frost deeper intp the ground so that many service lines that escaped freezing ‘during the gub-zero temperatures are beginning to freeze now, While water service charges may be slightly ‘higher while taps. are left open the precaution will avoid much serjous damage and expense in making repairs to lines. ° : : s e e e o Subscribe Now For The Ligonier 'ml ." s ; ; : :

HOME RULE LOSE A POINT

‘State Welfare Board Is Given Rroud Powers Over County Unitg Advocates of home rule in gov"emment lost a point in the meeting of the joint legislative committec when it voted to give the same welfare board broad powers over county units. Plans were to submit revised draits of social security bills to the governor but last-minute changes necesgitated continuation of their conferences. Under terms of sections placed in the public welfare bill, the state board would have authority to dismiss county welfare administrators for incompetency on five days’ notice. ' The county board then would be given 30 days in which to fill the vacancy after which the state board would have authority to name the administrator. :
