g ! OEIRR &0 O : Cuts In Registration and License i Fees Among:the Changes Sought : Bills introduced in the General Assembly which will be supported by the Affiliated 'AAA Motor Clubs of Indiand 'as a ‘part 'of their legislative program inelude House Bills 26, 36 and 37 J. P. Hutchens secretary-man-’ ager of the: Fort Wayne Motor Clab said. ; { - The billg are explained by Mr. Hut chens as follows: § i “H. B. 26 introduced by Evans-By-ers-Goddard provides for a reduction in registration fees for automobiles at a flate rate instead of a sliding scale as at present. ‘“H. B. 36, introduced by Reisinger, amends the automobile license law 10 legalize the use of any kind of a holder for certificates of registration. The present law requires the use of a metal container furnished by the statie at a cost of fifty cents. The present legal container is of aluminum with four holes at each corner for tacks. The modern automobile is so constructed that the metal container cannot be fastened in the car as provided by law and for several years most ‘motorists have failed to use the metal container and display it in the car. ~ “H. 8.37 introduced by Slenker amends the driver’s license law to make the current license good uniil January 1, 1938 and provides for a three-year license thereafter. “The Affiliated AAA Motor Clubs of Tndiana have an eleven point legislaiive program this year and other billlg for the benefit of the motorist will be introduced soon. Most of the bills wihch will receive the support of organized motorists will deal with reducticn of {axes on the motorist.” s i Sl State Is Increas’ng Fish Propagation More extéensive stocking -of Indiana lakes and streams with game fish is being undertaken by the iepartment of conservation through thé construction of hatchery and rearing ponds on a number of state properties—game farms, parks and forests. = These ponds will double the present rearing facilitieg of the state fish hatcheries it was pointed out by Virgil M. Simmons, comissioner of the department of conservation. ' Hatchery and rearing ponds has been planned for Jasper-Pulaski game farm, Morgan-Monroe state forest, Brown county game farm, Jackson county state forest. - Shakamark state park, Dubois county state forest. Scales park near Boonville and Lincoln state park. A majority of the ponds on these .properties are now under construction, to be ready for use during the coming season. : With these ponds in operation the division of fish and game will be able to stock streams: in the southern part of ‘the state from rearing. ponds in that section eliminaling the long hauls which have been necessary in the past. ith each half of the state having ponds to supply game fish for the area, more intensive stocking will be possible, giving Hoosier fishermen additional sport.. The stocking of Indiana lakes and streams during the past year was more thorough than at any time in the past, due to the co-operation of conservation clubs. Eighty of these clubs operated rearing ponds in cqn-‘ junction with the gtate hatcheries, making possible a greatly increased supply of fish for stocking purposes. During the present year these clubs are to provide their_’own.parent_flsh for breeding purposes thus ob:aining their own fry instead of depending.up on the state hatcheries. This will allow the hatcheries to produce fry for the new state rearing ponds and with the clubgs providing their own fry, make available more fish for stocking ,pu/rposes. , = Gets Pension Bill Two —old age pension bills were transferred from the house judiciary A to the judiciary B committee where they will be held pending regarding President Roosevelt’s security program. : By SRR - KR Despite only meager clue Sheriff llrvin Cazier hopes to lear the identity of the three young men who madé a mysterious attack on Mrs. Detty: ‘Daman aged about 75 years: at her ‘home three miles south of Avilla.
