Labor Day at Playland Park, A gala all-day program Labor Day will mark the closing cof Playland park, South Bemnd, for the 1934 season. : The day’s festivities will get underway at 2 p.m. with the annual ash can derby, for cars of ancient vintage and a program of six thrilling auto‘mobile and motorcycle races. A large display of fire works is scheduled o be set off at 10 a.m. in front of the grand stand. Dancing to the music of Clint Castor and his orchestra will be offered both afternoon and evening in Melody Gardens. At the same time Manager Earl J. Redden announced that Melody Gardens will remain open during September and October for dancing on Saturday and Sunday nights at which time many of the nation’s foremost orchastras will be presented. The first will be Cab Calloway and his internationally famous Citton Club orchestra, September 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Doc Krontz of Butler have been visiting relatives here. The eighteenth annual runion of the Harp family was held Sunday at Bixler lake park with gixty-three members present. Mrs. Bunice Elam of Fort Wayne, was hostess to the reunion. : i
Sedella Fay Wiley, five-year-ola daughter ofi Willie Wiley, was kiled almost instantly when gtruck in the heard with a .22 calibre bullet fired from a rifle by her half-brother, Besonia, 8, at their home near Liberty Center. - The sixteenth annual reunion of the Schwab family was held in the Brumbaugh grove near Wawaka, with forty-eight present. A delicious dinner was served at noon, nicnic fashfon and the day spent in social visiting. At the business session, C. W. Schwab was elected president; Ruth Schiwab, gecretary-treasurer. After objections had been voiced by a lone remonstrator, members of the common council of Goshen adopted the budget and levy ordinances for 1935 on final readings by unanimous vote. The 1935 ecivil city rate was established at 78 cents a reduection of 12 cents from the current rate of 90 cents, : Death Tuesday afternoon dissolved a professional partnership which had existed in Goshen since 1880, when Dr. William B. Kreider, 85, dropped dead about five o’clock in his office at the corner of Fifth street and Lincoln avenue. Death was due to heart trouble. He had practiced medicine with his brother, Dr. Martin K. Kreider, 87, for b 4 years. i

Three are Charged with Petit Larceny and the Fourth, Receiving Stolen Goods.
Four residents of Swan township were, confined in the county jail Saturday, three facing charges of petit larceny and one a charge of receiving stolen goods. - : The four held include Clarence wood, 38, his son, Walter, 19, Chales Buchanan, 24, and Morrel Cramer, 53. The roundup of the quartet, involved in the theft of wheat and potatoes in Swan township, was made Friday afternoon by Sheriff Irvin Crazier and State Patrolman Al Teusch. After questioning the suspects a short time detailed confessions were made to Prosecutor Glenn Throp. The arrest of Buchanan and Cramer followed the apprehension of Clarence Wood and son, who were taken into custody for the thefi of about six bushels of wheat from the granary of U. F. Baker, Swan townshop, last Tuesday night. Thursday they sold the wheat at a Kendallville elevator. They confessed to the theft of the wheat and during the questioning the elder Cramer involved Charles Buchanan in the theift last spring of 15 bushels of potatoes from Cecil Shank, residing north of Swan. They said they becarie frightened during the investigation over the theft of the potatoes and induced Morrel Crameér to take the potatoes, which Cramer said he -did. ‘ Charges. of petit larceny were filed against Wood and son and Buchanan and charge of receiving stolen goods against Cramer. It is expected that Judge Rob McNagy of Columbia City, will be in Albion this week and the four will be given gpecial arraignment in event they choose to plead guilty as charged.

The Golden text was: “Who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counselor?
