“The colon is a sewerage system, but by neglect and abuse it becomes a cesspool. When it ig clean we are well and happy; let it stagnate and it will distill the poisons of decay, fermentation and putrefaction into the blood, poisoning the brain and nervous system so that we become mentally depressed and melancholic, irritable and restless; it will poison the heart so that we are weak and listless; poison the lungs so that the breath is foul; poison the digestive organs so that we are loaed, belching ang distressed with gas pains; poison the blood sp that the skin is sallow blotched and unhealthy, In short, every organ of the body is poisoned, and we age prematurely, look and feel old; the joints are stiff and painful; neuritis, dull eyes and a sluggish brain overtake us; the pleasure of living is gone.”

3 IMPENDING TEST VOTES
Tax On Malt Syrup, ‘Legalization of 2,75 Per Cent Beer Repeal of Dry ! Law Up s
Three impending prohibition votes in congress. soon will put the entire membership on record for the election campaign. : They will add one of the most significant chapters to the long story of the prohibition decade. It is a welcome opportunity for those who have been sailing under their true colors—whether dry or otherwise. But for those who would like to go through this camaign carrying water on one shoulder and liquor on teh other it is a cause for acute insomnia. :
The three impending test votes are: 1, To tax malt syrup and other ingredients or home brew and wine. 2. 'To legalize 2.75 per cent beer ang tax it. : 3. To bring up a proposed repealer on the 18th amendment, ~ Not only will these votes shake out a number of congressmen who have been hiding up the treet; they will gerve also as a guide for bewildered republican party leaders, who are debating whether to dampen the party’s national platform this year. ~ The chief argument used for a rejudgment of the question is that more than 10,000,000 persons have reached ivoting age since federal prohibition came into effect. :
The proposal to legalize 2,75 per cent beer is to be offered as an amendment to the tax bill with a proposed tax of $5 a barrell. It is sponsored by ‘Rep. Cullen democrat New York He says it is hypocritical to legalize and tax beer ingredients while outlawing them after nature has taken its course. 3
The proposed repealer of the 18th amendment will be up Monday when the house votes on whether to consider the measure. ;
Advance indications are that only the proposed malt wort and grape concentrate tax proposals have a reasonahle chance of addition.

‘All Night Lights For Chicks By Prof. Paul G. Riley
The use of all night lights in. brood ing baby chicks is becoming increasingly popular, It seems to help a great deal in solving some of the brood ing problems, particularly on early chicks.
The light practically eliminates c\rowding, providing the temperature is about right, it gives the <hicks an oportunity to drink more water and to eat a slightly additional amount of feed, and eliminates the neceasity of the chicks going through the long night with the amount of feedq that they have been able to pack into their crop late in the evening, before dark comes.
The result of all night lights ig that it makes brooding easier chicks drink a little more water and it has a tendency to increase the rate of growth somewhat. : A five or ten watt bulb is sufficient to light one ten by twelve ten by fourteen or even slightly larger brooder house. It is not the intention to keep the chicks active all night, but to give them an opportunity to see enough to make it possible for them to get a drink and get located around the stove, if they wander away from "the rest of the chicks, -
