RAIN CONTROLS SALE OF TILING StatiStics Show that Business Con. ditions Had Little Effect in , Past

" Statistics of interest to all persons engaged in the tile industry and to all home owners and other users of tile, have been received by the Banner, These figures as' printed below, prove that the tile industry is not affected by money conditions, but by weather conditions. The rainfall is the controlling factor. ' According to these statistics, (applicable to Indiana only) in the four-year period from 1917 to 1920, the rainfall averaged 37 inches tile sales were average, and money conditions good; in 1921 rainfall 46 inches large amount of: tiling, economic slump; from 1922 to 1926. 39 inches of rainfall a fair amount of tiling was used, financial conditiong yere good; in 1927 rainfall 49 inches, unusual use of tiling conditions normal 1928 to 1931, 37-inch average rainfall two vears being extremely dry, very small amount of tile used, economic conditions poor. : By means of the facts set forth in these statistics it is possible, basing calculations upon the probable amount of rainfall for the year 1932 to calculate the amount of tile to be used, Thus: rainfall about 50 inches tile usage large and general (so far this year tile industry reports large sales), economic conditions better. Reports from various tile manufacturers show that farmers are now buying more tile than ever before.
