Wawaka Pays Tribute
The Wawaka Correspondent says: “The Waldron woods on the banks of Elkhart river was the scene of the happy hiking trip’ of the Ligonier Boy Scouts Saturday under the leadership of Walter Robinson. Noticeable to farmers around here was the fine drill formation of the scouts as they marched from Ligonier, the asking of permisssion to enter the grounds, the nicety with the fires which were started, and alsot he carefulness of the boys to put out every ember before leaving and last but not least the gathering of every scrap of paper and disposal of it, leaving the grounds in as good shape as before. On leaving the last one through the little gate carefully closed and latched it. Not one visitor in a hundred generally does that. All honor to Ligonier Boy Scouts and their leaders.” f

Obituary
Werten Engle was the son of Andrew Engle and Ann (Conrad) Engle |sturdy and highly respected pioneers of Noble county and are well and favorably remembered by the older citizens of this community. He was born on the old Engle homstead one and one-half miles southwest of this city August 22 1860 and passed away May 15 1930 aged 69 years, 8 months and 24 days. , > + It was on the farm that he grew into ‘'manhood as a member of the family of five children, three of whom had preceded him in death leaving now but one surviving member, a twin brother, Cleburn, of South Bend, Indiana. May 7, 1882 he was united in matrimony to Miss Mary Umbenhower, from which union was born a daughter Vera, who died many years ago, after reaching young womanhood and two sons, Lester and Glen now residents of Toledo Ohio. ‘ ~ For a number of years after marriage he continued in his farming, but in 1906 the family moved to its present home in this city. Werten Engle was widely known thruout this community, and posSessed many sterling qualities of mind and heart, known best by his intimate friends who were thus favored by an inside into his real character. . :
With unquestioned, integrity, with absolute regard for truth, with a kind and sympathetic nature, he trod his pathway of life in a manner that ‘might well be said to have made the ‘world better by his hayving lived in it. He was frank and positive in his views but was ever willing to grant those who disagreed with him the same pris vilege of expression he assumed for himself, provided he thought them sincere, but detested hypocracy and fanaticism. ‘ : Werten Engle not only leaves a sorrowing wife, two ‘sons and a twin brother, and many other relatives and friends to mourn, but kindest thoughts of the days that were, will ever nestle as the years roll on, in the hearts of a host of admiring friends who cannot forget. : The funeral was held at two o’clock Sunday afternoon from the late home, Rev. Grisso of the Christian church officiating. Burial was made in Oak Park. : \

Fashion Was the Discussion
“That person is wise who neither ‘accepts mor’ rejects fashion because it is fashion; but analyzes its form, discovers its reason for being, and its further possibilities. She makes a study of herself and knows what lines, colors, and materials will. help to bring out her best points and still more important she knows her de{fects and carefully plans to disguise them.” This was the basis of a very ‘able discussion conducted by Miss Frieda C. Stoll, Clothing Specialist of Purdue, substituting for Miss Katherine McMahon who is recovering from a very severe illness. ‘The club project leaders met with Miss Stoll in the County Agent’s office Friday May 16. After a short business session the subject “The Adequate House Dress” was discussed. The forenoon session was spent in-reviewing the different types of the individual and selecting = suitable styles for each type give general types being worked out. The tal] slender, the tall stout stout, the short slender and the short stout and the normal. Simpliciy is the keynote to good taste and clothing should not only be attractive in itself but also be pleasing to the wearer. When becoming clothes are worn the woman feels at ‘ease has confidence in herself and radiates charm and happiness. by After a pot-luck dinner the subject of appropriate materials were discussed relative to service, suitablility color fastness and shrinkage. A number of unusual designs in trimming styles collars and pockets were coppied together with style posters to be used jn the club meetings. , Sixteen members were present, Noble, Allen and Orange not being represented. e ; ' l
