Files Suit For Divorce Although they have bheen married for 30 years Estella Working Tuesday filed suit for divorce from Benjamin F. Working a farmer residing northeast of Goshen in the Elkhart superior ceurt. Mrs. Working charges cruelty and asks $5,000 alimony. The Workings were married October 6 1898 and separated November 12 1929 according to the complaint. The Workings last spring were acquitted of arson charges which were preferred against them for the mysterious burnIng of a neighbor’s Larn. ' The Workings are former residents of Perry township Noble county. American Legion Notes There was a regular meeting of American Legion at Legion Hall Tues day evening Nov. 19th with a very good attendance. A special meeting will be held next Tuesday evening at Legion Hall and a big supper will be served. ‘All boys that were on Uncle Sam’'s morning report during the world war are urged to be present. A good program has been arranged. Come and enjoy the evening. Don’'t forget the date and place Tuesday Nov. 26th 7:30 P. M. at Legion Hall.
Plant Bream Fish,
Fred Strodel and Clarence Bauermeister cottage owners on Diamond lake planted about 1000 small Bream fish in Diamond lake on Saturday Nov. 16th 1929. These Bream fish are similar to bluegills but reach a weight of two pounds and over. The fish were reclaimed by the Government Bureau of Fisheries from the Mississippi river overflow and are some of the first Bream stocked into Indiana lakes. Milwaukee Aubuscons at Playland Followers of professional football will have a chance Sunday afternoen to witness a real gridiron tilt at Play land park in South Bend when the crack Milwaukee Aubuscons hook up with Louie Batchelor’s Bender pro eleven at 2:30 o’clock. Former college and high school stars are very much in: evidence on both clubs. The Milwaukee eleven has won seven straight games this year. ‘ Each Vote Cost 24.1 Cents City Clerk W. A. DeVault. has figur ed out the expenses of the recent city election at Kendallville and finds that they amounted to $508.88. The total vote cast for the office of mayor was 2,066 votes which figures out that each vote cost on an average of 24.1 cents of public money. The citizens are thg sole judges as to whether or not they got value received. . . Farm Bureau Banquet Farm Bureau membership captains from all over the county will hold a banquet at the Methodist church in Albion on Friday November 33 at 6:30 P. M. The results of the drive for members will be checked up at that time. Scattered reports indicate that there will be a big increase in membership. Have New Son. A clean cut Big Ten football championship will be at stake Saturday in the Indiana memorial stadium at Bloomington when Purdue and Indiana stage the thirty-second renewal of their annual gridiron combat. This will be the first time since the Pur-due-Indiana series was started 38 vears ago that a Big Ten flag will depend on the outcome of the game. Purdue has bowled over Big Ten teams right and left this season and has a championship within its grasp. Indiana on the other hand, has had a season of reverses, due not so much to the poor quality of football played but to the schdule which called for games against the strongest teams in the tountry, starting with Notre Dame| and going on through games with Colgate, Ohio State, Minnesota and}l Northwestern. ‘ Damage Suit Is Refiled | The suit of Nettie Meroney of Elkhart against the Pony Express Line asking $lO,OOO damages for injuries inflicted to her hushand Bert Meroney formerly of Ligonier which caused his death was re-filed in Elkhart circuit court today. : The case had previously been filed in Elkhart circuit court venued to Kosciusko circuit and finally re-venu-ed to Elkhart. The plaintiff’s bill claims that the Pony Express Line operated ' motor busses between Chicago and Michigan cities and on the afternoon of November 17 1928 when Bert Meroney was driving his car east on the River road between South Bend and Elkhart he fwas struck by one of the busses and received injuries that resulted in the ideath. 4 | Vietim of Bomb Is Dead. ! Andrew Legos 35 victim of an assassin’s bomb which exploded as he stepped on the starter of his automobile several week ago at Marion died of his injuries. Legos was secretary of the Molders’ Union. Previous to the bombing in which his body was shattered two men were killed when a bomb exploded during a meeting of the Union in the Labor Temple at Marion. _ . M iss Man Found _ Ed Cammack formerly of Milford who- disappeared suddenly from Warsaw about two months ago rather mysteriously .has been located. Upon good authority he is said to be employed in a Fort Wayne drug store. - For more than five years Cammack had made his home in Warsaw and for a few years was employed as custodian of the Masonic Temple, , Train Hits Auto Four members of the Homer Fredericks family of Kendallville escaped death at noon Saturday by jumping from their stalled automobile just before it was struck by a speeding locomotive at the Riley street crossing in that city. The machine was demolished and pieces were carried along the tracks for a distance of nearly a mile. To Be Game Preserve
Plans are being made by the conservation department officials to start a game preserve in Pokagon state park Steuben county where animalg may be redred in their primitive natural state. The section of the park chosen for this game preserve is the northern part just north of the public picnic grounds which borders on Lake James and Snow lakes. Fifty-two acres of the park woods are included in the section. It is the intention of 'the department to collect there and breed deer;, elk, buffalo and perhaps bear, as well as small animals said Superintendent Jacob Bergman. The fencing will be completed this fall and winter and the animals will begin to arrive in the early spring. It is proposed to supply other parks of the state with animals from this place if the experiment proves a success. It is certain that this will prove a popular feature of beautiful Pokagcn park. :

William Sherman of Crown Point, Ind., one of three University of Illinois students arrested on charges of illegally possessing liquor during a raid omn the Gamma Eta Gamma fraternity house Sunday at Urbana, Illinois pleaded guilty to the charge today and was fined $500.00 and costs. Charges against the other two students were dismissed. : Explusion proceedings against Sher man had already been started by the fraternity. Wearly 12 gallons of liquor were found in the fraternity house when Champaign county au thorities raided it ony a search warrant at 2 o’clock Sunday morning and arrested the three young men. The Gamma Eta Gamma fraternity is a law school organization.
Fort Wayne Schools (losed
Two more schools were ordered closed by the Fort Wayne board of health after one case of smallpox was reported in each school. The schools closed yesterday were the Hanna and Washington schools. The closing is to give an interval in which the, pupils came be vaccinated. The city now has 38 cases of small pox it was reported at the board of healthh office yesterday. "The Washington and Hanna schools will be cloged until pupils are vaccinated. . - Secretary Gaod Dies. Secretary of War James W. Good of Jowa veteran Republican leader who played a prominent part in President Hoover’s election and was rewarded with a cabinet portifolio died at Wash can be vaccinated. o Death was due tc complications following an operation for appemndicitis last Wednesday. Good was 63. There will be a cake walk and social at the Centralized schowl! Fridoy evening Nov. 22. The affair will be sponsored by the school.

Two pheasants which five hunters had in their possession cost them a total of $llO in fines and costs when they pleaded guilty to the charge of violating game laws in the court of Justice of the Peace Chas. P. Fribley at Goshen, The men gave their names as Russell Gifford, 23 Oakdale La.; Bruno Jarblowski 34 A. L. Varnes 24 Ray Nicolai 20 and Ed Phelps 37 all of Muskegon Mich. . ; _ They were arrested late Saturday night by deputies from the sheriff’s| office after their car had gone into a| ditch near New Parls. All were fined $lO and costs amounting to $22 in each | case. ‘ - Gifford driver of the automobile | was arraigned in the city court before Judge Clell Firestone and upon his plea of guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated was fined $5O and sentenced to sixty days at the penal| farm. ' ! - Sends Letter to Employer Raymond Carter of Elkhart employed as a driver for the Cook Bros. dairy | at Elkhart sent a letter to his employers- enclosing a claim check for an automobile he had driven to Chicago and stating that he was going to alifornia and would return about $l5O of the company’s money he had taken when he arrived in California. The letter was mailed from Chicago. Carter. also enclosed a photograph of him self in the letter. Carter had disappeared last week taking with him collections he had made for the company. : South Bend Man Killed ‘William Zakrowski 50 of South Bend was instantly killed late Saturday afternoon when he was struck by a New York Central train at Division and Walnut streets.
