Watson and his son Russell B. Titsworth is now prosecuting attorney of Rush coupnty. The term of the judicial bench does not expire until January 1 1931. Awesome Vislon of Future Warfare Revealed In Latest Test of New Invention

~ Washington, Nov. 9—An awesome vision of what future war fare may mean to urban populations is conjured up in the latest success of the army air corps use of an automatic pilot for planes in- flight. A plane so equipped rested today at Bolling field after a flight from Wright field Dayton, O. Its gyroscoic control device functioned perfectly in fog and good weather enroute here vesterday. - It is the produce of the «perry company in whose name the late Lawrence Sperry demonstrated a similar device before high officers of the.government during the war. Sperry- endeavored to show how an explosive-laden plane would be sent alone to its destination to hurtle earth ward and explode. He failed. His plane found its course despite an empty cockpit but failed to dive when ~pected fell from sight and was lost at sea. 5% Subsequent development has produced an automatic céntrol which functions perfectly up to a certain point. As it exists now the gyroscopic control cannot tazke a plane off . the ground, but this difficulty might be ovecrcome. There would remain the problem of making the ship dive. The problem of flight after the take off and bhefore the dive ‘would be solved in the machine which flew here from Dayton provided remote control can be made applicable. The air corps has not revealed whether it will endeaor to develop robot control to the point of transforming an airplane into an aerial torpedo by means of gyroscopic piloting directed by radio. .

A New York egg market jobber recently had a pleasant surprise when he received an express shipment of Indiana eggs produced by W. H. Cooper of Mentone. The eggs were in such fine condition that they were sold for 2 cents per dozen and topped the New York City market on Oct. 9. This information came to E. R. Menefee of the Purdue University agricultural experiment station who is investigating the marketing of Indiana eggs. : . : :

Slot Machines Are Seized

Three slot machines found in Tune Inn a roadhouse on State Road 2 the Fort- Wayne road near the Elkhart county line were seized by ‘Sheriff Glenn P. Banks and Deputy -Ralph Logan of Goshen when the two officers stopped at the place late Thusday night. William Ralston proprietor of the place was ordered to ‘appear in the city court at Goshen. '

Plymouth Truck Driver Robbed

Earl Dear truck driver for Schlosser Bros., at Plymouth reported that he had been held up robbed of his watch money and truck while in Chicago Thursday. He said he was blind folded and taken for a ride of two hours before he was released. Deputy Sheriff Art Keller went to Chicago to attempt to locate the truck.

DENTIST MAY LOSE HAND

Dr. Galloway And Wife Badly Injured Sunday Evening When Car Strikes' . - Tree Near Syracuse

What came near a fatal accldent to two of our townspeople occurred near Syracuse Sunday evening at about 6:30 when Dr. and Mrs. O. B. Galloway crashed into a tree on the Cranberry hill a short distance north of that town, receiving painful and dangerous injuries and badly damaging their car. :

Mr. and Mrs. Galloway and Mrs. E. H. Leamon had been to South Bend to attend the wedding of Morris Leamon were on their way home but Mrs. Leamon had stopped over at Nappanee s 0 missed the mishap. = As the doctor started. to drive down the hill a car was coming in the opposite direction with lights burning brightly and as he turned to the side of the road and being unfamiliar with it. he turned out too far, and his car crashed into a tree. The impact caused the car to turn over and the occupants were unable to free themsel-

ves from the wreckage but were relcased shortly afterward by a pass-

ing motorist who was required to

punch a hole in the top of the auto. He assisted Mr. and Mrs. Galloway into Syracuse where the services of a physician were sought, but it seems that they were all engaged so after receiving first aid the injured. were all engaged so after receiving first aid the injured were rushed to Cromwell where Dr. Nye dressed their wounds. -

It was necessary to take seven stitches to close one gash on Mr. Calloway’s head and a tendon on the right hand with other minor cuts and bruises were dressed. Mrs. Galloway also was severely cut and bruised but not as badly as her husband . ‘ The auto is almost & complete wreck and except to be used as parts will not be redeemed. Dr. Galloway had only had the car a short time but it was not a new one.

The tree was the same one hit by Mr. Swan the Ligonier restaurant proprietor about a year ago.—Cromwell Advance. - j

Warsaw Man Sentenced : Barney Fore of Warsaw was found

guilty of a charge of vehicle taking in

the circunit court at South Bend and was sentence&rto one to ten years in prison. The jury deliberated only five minutes. The case against Gerald Nighswander also of Warsaw was dismissed for lack of evidence. -
