* Mrs. Henry Frindle of South Milford has been visiting for the past week at the home of Mrs. Earl Kline and Mrs. Homer Pilling of this city. Mrs. W. A. Jackson and granddaughter Mary Jane were (ioshen shoppers Saturday. Margaret Rodgers entertained Thurs day evening at a Hallowe’en party twenty-three guests. The house was decorated in black and orange and the same colors were carried throughout the serving of the lunch. lf‘r.izes were won by Queenie Oliver, Don Cotherman, Janis Sedgwick and Margaret Kelley.
Mrs. Jane Barnhiser who has been employed at the Crystal theatre for the past year has resigned her position and is returning to her home in Huntington.
Arthur Yeager who has been sick for several weeks will soon be able to resume his work. George -Ramsbhy of Mishawaka and Mrs. George Ramsby and daughter Mable of l.igonier spent the week end with Toledo relatives. :
Mrs. C. F. Green and Mrs. George Brown spent a very delightful day in Fort Wayne last Friday. : Thursday night at the home of William Kitson, Mary Alice and Morris Kitson entertained a party of friends from Goshen Benton, Syracuse and Ligonier. The decorations were according to the Hallowe’en season. Games were played and music enjoyed. At a late hour refreshments were served.
The Ligonier basgetball team played their first game with LaGrange, Friday, October 25th, at LaGrange. At the beginning it was very close. But Ligonier was defeated 45 to 22, - Saturday, October 26th, Mr.. and Mrs. A. J. Inks and Anna Belle and Betta Rose Henney. visited Fort Wayne. They went for the special purpose of seeing the new all talkie, all color, all singing and dancing picture, “The Gold Diggers of Broadway” Mr. and Mrs. Inks pronounced it to be the best talking picture they have ever seen. ‘ : Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Wertheimer and Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Wertheimer, Mrs. I. D. Straus, Mrs. Simon Straus and guests went to Fort Wayne Sunday to attend an evening dinner given by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Wolf at the Keenan hotel. Other out of town guests were Mrs. Wolf’s sister and husband, who came from Kalamazoo, Mich., to attend the function. Thomas Hite who lives northwest of the city returned to the University of Detroit, Sunday, October 27. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wisner and Mrs. Fred Hendrickson spent Saturday in Fort Wayne enjoying “Blossom time” at the Shrine audjtorium. Mr and Mrs. 'Lewi@/Levy and son Buddy arrived home Tuesday from Buffalo, N. Y., where they had spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Todd and also consulted a specialist for Buddy. !
M. E. Church Notices.
There was a fine increase in the attendance upon the services of the Sunday school and church yesterday. The communion service was the largest during the present pastorate. Tho special number by Mrs. Weeks was well received. Three united with the church. :
Tnight is the occasion for the Group Conference to be held in this church. Representatives from the six charges will be here for this service. Our Dist. Supt. C. B. Croxwell will preskde. We hope that a large attendance will be there from the local congregation . The Ladies Aid will provide the supper the supper will be served for 50 cents. If possible let Mrs. O. C. Harsh know. Come for the supper but remain for the program. Special music has been provided. Remember that next Sunday is to be one of the great days in the Methodist church during the conference year. The first Annual Homecoming takes place then. Special musical programs will be given at each service. Rev. Croxall will bring the morning message. A pot®luck dinner will be served at the church. The Presbyterian church will unite in the afternoon service and this will take the place of the union service of the evening. Rev. Perry C. Gibbs of Warsaw will give his address, “My Old Kentucky Home.” The other churhes and invited to join us in the afternoon lservice.
' Preshyterian Church. Exodus 25:40 wa3 the sermon text yvesterday morning, “The Pattern in the Mount,” was the theme. Mrs. Wood’s solo was greatly enjoyed. Matt. 6:33 was the text of Rev.. Anderson’s sermon in the evening. The excellent sermon dealt with matters requiring much consideration in our day. : ' The evening musical program was very pleasing, consisting of a solo by Janis Sedgwick and a duet by Betty Rose Henny. There was a good attendance at both services.
Loyalty Month begins Wovember 1. In it we are all to show especial loyalty to our own church and all its organizations. :
Christian Church
Home coming will be observed at this church next Sunday. A kind invitation is extended to all to bring their baskets and spend the day with us in fellowship and worship. This will be the first of “The Loyalty Services” also the orchestra will be present all day and dispense some fine music.! There will be a. number of vocal selections also at each. service Rev. D. R. Moss of Kendallville will be present at the afternoon service and give the “Home Coming” address. .We are preparing for a great all day service. Why not be there?
United Brethren Church
Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hartzler the Loyal Women will have their annual Hallowe'en class meeting. Members will take pumpkin pies and sandwiches. Thursday evening at the church the Young People’s Division will have their usual good Hallowe’en time. Wednesday evening is the midweek service. This service is very important to your church life. We start a Loyalty Campaign next Sunday. Get ready and be ready.

Christian Seience Services. “Probation after Death” was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ Scientist on Sunday October 27. Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13). ‘“The righteous also shall hold on his way and he that hath clean hands shalil be stronger and stronger” (Job 17:9). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages ' from the Christian Science textbook, “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy: “If the change called death destroyed the belief, in sin, sickness and death happiness would be won at the moment of. dissolution, and be forever permanent but this is not so. Perfection is gained only by perfection. They who are unrighteous shall be unrighteous still until in divine Science Christ Truth, removes all ignorance and sin” (p. 290). _ o ' i
