N Obituary. “Amanda daughter of Adam and Sarah Fisel was born in Elkhart county Indiana Dec. 27 1863 and died at her home in Ligonier Indiana Aug. 27 1926 aged 62 years and Smonths. She was united in marriage to Geo; Long Feb. 14 1886 and to this union was born ten children three of thesd
dying in infancy. The deceased has resided in -Ligonier and vicinity all of her life where she is well and favorably known. When a young girl she became a (Christian and united- with the Spring Hill Christian church. : : She was always a lover of her homg and spent but few days away from it, and her children had he consideration and love and today they reverse the memory of a loving mother. She was also a good neighbor. Surviving are the husband George Long and seven children as follows Chester D. Long of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Kthel Pollock of Ligonier, Logan Long of Lambertyille Mich., Mrs. Dessie Gard of F()!‘P‘r“’a},’ne, Ind., Mrs, Irma Price of near Ligonier and Mary and Kdward Long at home and ten ‘grandchildren. : Besides other relatives and friends She has been a sufferer for the past ‘three years but was patient throughout her affliction. | ~ Funeral services were held Yyesterday at the late home conducted by ‘Rev. Geor. Long and Family. ~ Elephants Fight at Warsaw. An elephant fight furnished thrillg for a lot of people at Warsaw Satairday that being an extra attraction of the Sparks circus that even the most vivid advertiser had . not thought to put into the program. As the elephants were being unloaded the biggest one stepped on a smaller one. The little one objected and showed fight. The big one bumped it a time or two and the little one started on a run to get out of danger, going past the Werntz foundry with the big one in hot pursuit. The smaller one was soon captured, but the big one wandered about town for quite a little bit before it was caught and taken to the circus ground. -Both of the elephants were females, and the show people said they were not at all dangerous, but the Warsaw people took especial care to give them all the room they needed.-
Pr. King Issues Warning.
Dr. William F. King secretary of the state board of health today issued a warning against the wearing of sun shades or visors made of inflammable materials.
‘Several cases have come to his attention where smokers in lighting a cigarette. or cigar have accidentally ignited thegemn shade thedl werg wearing ssustaining injuries in a few cases resulting in loss of their eyesight, Dr. King reported. -
Barn is Burned.
Lightning struck the 45 by 80 barn on the old Franklin Foust farm twq and one-half miles east and a_ half mile north of Columbia .City in Columbia township and known as the Blue River Stock Farm, about three o’clock Sunday afternoon and the resultant fire caused the destruct}ion of the building and its contents.
Included in the loss were five tons of straw fifty feet of rope and a 12 or 14 foot silo that was stored in the barn.
Held On Serious Charge.
Charged with assault and battery with intent to kill Mrs. Ella Brooks with whom he roomed at Fort Wayne Jess Schaaf is being held to circuit court under a $l,OOO bond. Mrs. Brooks claims Schaaf fired four shotg at her and then beat her in the face with the butt of the gun.
Aged Resident Dies.
Mitchel Bloom aged 87 years, 17 months and 11 days who was a resident of Swa ntownship Noble county for more than 40 years died Monday night at 9:30 o’clock at his farm five miles northeast of Churubusco.: He suffered a stroke of paralysis a week ago which resulted in his death.
Court in Whitley.
The September term of the Whitley circuit court will convene next Monday and court will be in session again after a summer vacation except for a couple of days in July. Judge Biggs of this city will preside. i
Raid Canary Inn.
- Dancers were thrown into a panic at the Canary Inn early Saturday near South Bend when officers descended upon the place seized a small quantity of liquor and arrested Mr. Ruby Campbell proprietor.

- Peppermint oil is quoted at from eight to ten ,dollars a pound at the present time, but those who are familfar with the conditions in this country, and among the growers abroad, are of the opinion that the pricel wil} go considerably |higher within the coming few weeks possibly to fifteen or eighteen dollars a pound. Prices last year were around twfientyi dollars or more a pound but this was the result of unusual competitionamong the buyers rather than a nat ural rise to be credited to yield op market condition—LaGrange Standard. ; L

Dick Vesey with a wife and twa children in Fort Wayne a former member of the legisature from Allen county who has been ac’ting as president and general manager of the Hoosier Rubber company at Mishawaka has disappeared with $735. At the same time his stenographer Miss| Ruth Sleppy of Bluffton came up| missing. It lis believed to be an| elopement. The Rubber company is closed for lack of funds to pay the employees and placed in the hands ofl a receiver. = el

Goshen Man Missing.
Police were asked to start search for William Murray of Goshen who disappeared from hig home last Sunday a week and who has not been seen since then. His health failed while he was in Florida last spring, and relatives fear he has becomg mentally - unbalanced. sy ‘

County Commissioner Charles W. ’Bender is through threshing at last on his York township farm. Heé had 42 bushels of wheat to the acre and, the oats about 60 to the acre which he considers a fair crop. ;
Denies Charge.
' Cyrus Stanley of Albion denies the charge in a Brimfield justice court that he tried to operate an automobile while intoxicated. He says hig peculiar mental state was induced by medicine he was taking. :

Train Vietim Dies.
- Dale Ault, aged 11, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ault, of Rochester, died at the Woodlawn hospital four hours af, ter his legs had ben severed below the hips by a freight train., The boy, with several companions had crawled under a freight car standing on the track. He did not notice that an engine. was attached to the train which started as he was beneath the wheels.

Mother and Son Hurt.
Mrs. John Farver 70 of near Fremoént broke her right shoulder ‘and Joseph Farver her son suffered cuts when two tires on the same side of the antomobile in which they were riding burst and turned the car over on its side in a ditch Friday afternoon on state road 13 a mile north of Waterloo. Mrs., Farver was taken to a Garrett hospital where he injurieq were dressed. She was then taken ta her-home. : .
