too Ghituary. : : Sarah Ann Lepird, daughter of Samuwel and Harriett Reynolds Lepird was horn near Topeka, LaGrange county, Indiana Octchber 4th 1848 and died at her home nerth of Ligonier, November 3 1928 aged- 80 years and 29 days. : = Her childhdod and young womanhood was spent in LaGrange county until after’ tlie death of her n:{.)tlxl;r, when she and her brother Erank moved to a farm near Albion. . She resided there withh her brotherfor two ‘\"’Q;‘\L‘.\'.j She then.united in marriage (o Geoirss Walker March 13, 1879 and they resided on the same farm for. eight years, when they moved *to the late honrie, which is near the place of hey birth: To this union were born two children Vada .\1:1_\4;111(1 Edna, Vada May, father, mother and two brothers Robgrt and John preceded hertto the great heyond. ' : She 18 survived by her ~ husbaned, daughter Edna, wite .of Theodore Spurgeon, three sisters, Mary Jane Damey, Ellen Rambsy, Alecta Hostet-‘ter-of Ligonier and one hinther Frank of Goshen, Indiana; a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of I_)th\m' friends who aiouty acp loss In early life she was united with the Salem Methodist Profestant church and was an active member of that “church as long as it existed and remained a devoted christian the rest of her life. : : The funeral was held from the late bome Monday afternoon with Rev. Boase of Columbia City and Rev. LaGrange: Woman Injured. 1 Mrs. Ray J. Van Drew of LaGrange, sustained an ugly cut extending from the top of her nose to the right eyebrow and the cartilage in her nose was broken, in an automobile accident five miles north of Columbia City on State Road No. 9. The other occuptants of the Van Drew machine, including the husband and another c‘oupley and their daughter, escaped with slight injuries. The accident occurred when Van: Drew was blinded by the lights of an approcahing car. His car struck fresh gravel and went into the ditch. - ‘ : Mrs. Elson lllL Mrs. Henrietta Elson is very ill at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Elson in Wawaka, where she was taken Sunday, when she became ill whilg at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trowl. Mrs. Elson is the victim of hemorrhages. - Breaks Both - Arms. Harry aged 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Taylor, fell from a slide at the South -Side schoel grounds Tuesday forenoon and fractured both arms at the wrists. He was taken to the Goshen hospital -for an X-ray and thé fractures were reduced. - Another Basketball Game. The second game of baskethall in the new gym will be played with Topeka here Friday evening. Corn Project Tour. . The corn project tour was held Tast
week at the Herman Butz farm and a large number of interested citizens attend and examined the 18 plots of corn planted with 12 different varieties, which were grown on the Butz farm. Mr. Mueller of Purdue univeri'sity extension department, J. Briggs of Indiana Farm bureau, Mr. Webb of the Ohio Farm bureau, Noble County Agent (‘,unnin‘ghamrof Albion. The party left there for the C. C. Palmer farm at Albion. The corn project will be continued in the coming year’'s farm bureau work. :
Drops 28 Feet to River.
- Walter Hively 36 residing just south of Tri-lake is in a serious condition from pneumonia, the result of severe ‘injuries sustained = Saturday when his car occupied by himself a:n(g two sons suddenly got bevond control, scaled the sloping banister to the.top of the Blue river bridge then toppled 22 feet into the river below. The two gons were painfully injured.
Assistant Cashier Ends Life.
Bank examiners investigated the books of the Citizens State bank at New Ross, following the alleged suicide of Sherman Bratton, 36, assistant cashier. Thé assistant caslhier’y body, a bullet wound in the head, was found in an automobile near his home. Bratton’s act was said to have been followed by the discovery of a $5,600 shortage in the books of the bank.
Aged Farmer Dies.
Calvin Knott, aged 73 years, Wayne township farmer and a native of this state died Friday night at his home one mile east of Creigh lake.

Meric Bickle, aged about 11, is in (Cioshen Lospital with a broken collar bone, the result of running into the side of of an automobile at Madison and Fifth streets Saturday afternoon, The youth was being " taken down It(')wn by his mother, Mrs. L()uisf Bickel ;tx) be fitted with glasses in order to relieve a near-sighted condition. Despite his mother’s warvings' the boy is said to have attempted: to cross Madison street, turning into the side of 'a machine driven by Frang Osterhout, of Elkhart. The injured youth was removed to Goshen hospital. -
Find Beer C(Cargo.
A truck laden with four large cases of beer, valued a; $1,500 was found abandoned on the Toledo-Chicago pike near Kendallville Sunday morning. The driver of the truck apparently fearing arrest I:ft hig cargo when the truck became lodged in-a %sink-hflle' in the road. The beer and truck were removed to the Kendalllville city jail by Police Chief Orrie \Sawy‘er. .
Big Damage Suit.
Attorneys Allen S. Widaman of \Varsa\f, and Robert E. Ptoctor of Elkhart will. defend Charles E. Thomas, M. D, of Leesburg who has been sued by Glen T. Davisson, a rdairy farmer of southwest of Milford. He asks $50,000 for the alieged alienation of the affections of his wife, Chloe t Agnes Davisson. .

- Picked Up by Donovan. ' Three nimrods—enroute home from 2 valn hunt on Saturdayv—decided to drown their sorrow. They were arrested by Lieut William Deonovan of the Indiana state police, several miles west of Kendallville, late Saturday night, on charges of public intoxication, and driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated. They were allowed ‘to continue their hunt for twelve lhours in the city hall at Kendallville Later they were brought before Mayor Auman for a hearing, they admitted that the jail was a poor . hunting ground. They were released after a %paym‘ent of fines. 'T. R. Evans of Goshen was fined $lO and costs, and restrained from driving a motor vehicle for six months. His ' companions, George Swan of Ligonier and Robert Boomershine of Goshen also paid fines of $lO and costs.—Kendallville News

Authorities Mcnday searched for three bapdits who robbed G. W. Poore of Anderson of $l,BBO as he was enroute from Huntington. ey Poore said. the three bandits, unmasked crowded his automobile off the highway and took approximately $l,BOO in cash -and jewelry from him.
