6 4674 Pupls Attending Schools, . There are 4,674 pupils enrolled in the public schools of Noble c¢ounty, according to the lastest report, submit ted by the attendance office. Those enrolled in parachial schools are 196, high schol enrollment totals 932, children enrolied in the grades 3,205, in rural schools 537. . Avilla’ leads the list for percent of attendance at 98.8. Green township reports the largest number of tardy pupils at 30, with the total minutes being 360. lln all, 110 pupils were tardy in the grade schools .and high schools. Kendallville schools are not included in the report. ; Use Truck to Rob Store, Thieves used a truck to carry away clothing and merchandise valued at $B,OOO from the store of Steel & Peter son at South Bend early Monday morning. ‘Entrance to the store was gained - through a transom over the front door, and the merchandise ;was carried out of a rear door. A truck owned by the Indiana & Michigan Electric company -was reported missing, and it is believed that this truck was used to carry away the loot.

Banana Snake Found.

Ambrose Kissinger, employed at the Clark Fruit company in Huntington, discovered. a banana snake Monday morning, while unloading a car of bananas for the company. The snake, which was two feet long was grayish in color, with pink and black stripes, and was somewhat lifeless, probably due to the long ride in a refrigerator car. It was still alive, however, and is being hept in the company’s rooms as & curiosity. Banana snakes are very poisonous. 300 Men Walk Oat.

- It was estimated that 200 to 300 men employed at the plant of the American Window Glass company, were on a walkout at Hartford City following the announcement by the company Thursday that a ten per cent increase in wages could not be granted at this time. :

Two telephone systems in operation at DLaGrange will be cobnsolidated for operation through one switchboard by December 1 or sooner, according to the directing board of the LaGrange County Telephone company which has purchased the preperty rights of both the Farmers' and the old LaGrange County companies, ~ Tom Mix, Tony and Natilie Kingston in “Painted Post” Friday and Saturday at Crystal.

For the loss of his leg Gus Jungermann of Hobart, Indiana, was awarded $30,000 verdict by a jury in Porter circuit against the Sveig Roofing com pany of Gary. Jungermann lost the limb when his motor cycle crashed into the company’s truck in Gary.
