Her husband who died four years ago was for many years a well known druggist at Milford. Mrs. Groves herself had spent all of her life in Milford.

137th Fleld Artillery Reunion The first annual reunion o fthe 137th Field Amtillery regiment, which was formerly the old Third Indiana National Guard regiment will be held at Pottawatomie Park South Bend, Indiana on Sunday September 23. All former members of the 137th F. A. and of the old Third Indiana and their families are invited to attend this reunion. The program calls for a dinner to be served in cafeteria style at the park at 1:00 P. M. This will be followed by a business meeting and then there will be athletic events. Reservations should be made with George Miller 103 N. Main St., South Bend, Ind. The organization was founded in 1927 while the state eonvention of the American Legion was being held in South Bend. At that time the following officers were elected: QGeorge Miller President; Henry Sibrel Secretary-Treasurer.

The Grand Army of the Repubic, although only 1,500 strong this year attacked Denver Tuesday. A “war” bulletin issued from G. A. Fred Certain Grant county deputy sheriff is dead of bullet wounds allegedly inflicted by D. W. Harvey, Saturday night. Harvey is alleged to have killed Constable Frank Ury at the same time.

~ The deputy sfirif,f was wounded Saturday night skortly after the constable was slain. Ury was fired upon by Harvey when he went to his home to serve a summons in a dispossession suit police said. ~ Certain and other officers engaged in a gun battle with Haryey who barricaded himself in his home at Marion.

Clemency for Shumaker Sought Possibility of extension of executive clemency to Dr. B. S. < Obituary. « Fay Basil Leming, son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Leming of this city was born in LaGrange county INovember 24 1896 and departed this life Sept. 13 1928 aged 31 years 8 months and 20 days. : Nearly his entire life was spent in Ligonier or the immediate vicinity where he has made for hmself a host of friends. i

He was united in marriage July 16 1925 to Miss Georgia Ott of this city and to this union were born two children Charline and Theora Jane who with his wire his father mother-and brother Willis of this city besides many other relatives remain .o mourn his departure. One brother Olin Thaddus having proceeded him into the great bevond while still in infancy. Brother Fay was made,a Free and accepted Mason in Ligonier Lodge No. 185 F. and A. M Dec. 9 1920. In his departure we lose a kind and loving father, husband son and brother but his brief span of life was well spent as indeed he fitted his life as a living stone ' for that house not made of hands eternal in the Heavens and he used the trowel to spread the cement of brotherly love and affection. \'f Auto Toll Heavy. . ~ Six hun and fifty sutomobile accidents Indiana during August took a toll of 16 lives and injured 311 persgns according to the state police report to Frederick E Schortemeier secretary of state. , iDamage was sustained by 233 auto[mobilee. Two persons were killed and 21 injured in collisions between lautomobiles and other objects.
