Rozelle Resigns His Job. ... Frank E. Rozelle of LaGrange United States marshal for the northern district of Indiana has sent his resignation to the attorney general at Washington D. C. = Rozelle has just returned from Washington where he conferred with department of justice officials. Rozelle s head of the Omaha Tapestry Paint company, the affairs of wheih are now being investigated, as the result of charges brought by R. E. Hicks, former South Whitley -publisher.
Rozelle was appointed to the position by President Coolidge last May, being recommended by Senators James E.- Watson and Arthur Robinson. Immediately after the appointment, charges brought against Rozelle’s company three years ago were revived by Hicks, and the department of justice authorized the investigation. :
Entertain at Shobe Home
Last Thursday evening Mrs. Robert Shobe and Mrs. Glade Rupert entertained at the home of the former a small company at bridge prizes for which were awarded to Mrs. Farreil Ott, Mrs. James Simpson and Mrs, Chester Smith. < : On Tuesday evening Mrs. Shobe and Mrs. Rupert gave a farewell party for Mrs. A. O. Shearer at Mrs. Rup» ert’s home. Prize winners were Mrs. Fred Starr, Mrs. Graham Lyon -and Mrs. Arthur Ferguson. Mrs. Shearer was presented a lovely guest prize.
Fort Wayne Man Killed
_~ Albert E. Perkins 55 was killed by an interurban car Monday night while walking along the tracks at Fort Wayne near the- country club where he was employed.

Skull Fractured in Fall James Blake of Fort Wayne is uns conscious in the Methodist hospital of injuries received when he fel} from the rear of an automobile trucly at New Haven 'Monday night. Blake is about 50 years old. The accident occurred as the truck on which Blake was riding made a turn. He was seated on a box buj became unbalanced as the truck turned. He fell to the payment.

Decatur Man Killed : H. A Straub 35 of Decatur was instantly killed Saturday evening when the automobile which he was driving across the Nickle plate railroad tracks at Fort Wayne was struck by a freight train. Straub received internal injuries which caused his death. The automebile was demolished and carried down the tracks 500 feet. e

. Makes Long Trip. f William H. Bender member of the Ligonier city council and its president, since his return from a pleasure trip last Friday has been busy preparing the budget for the city covering the expenditures of the coming vear. “I had the time of my life,” saig Mr. Bender. He was absent just thirty days in company with his brother and nephew from California. The trip of 4,000 miles was made in an automobile and included sights of interest around the national capitol, New York city and the New England states. Crossing into Canada a tour was made of that country. “ The younger members of the party had never been east and the sights in that portion of the United States were new to them and proved a revelation. : > :
Accepts Hoover Resignation
President Calvin Coolidge Tuesday accepted the resignation of Herbert Hoover as secretary of Commerce and appointed William F. Whiting of HolyokeM ass., as the new secretary.
The oath of office was administered. at Coolidge’s private office by court attaches of Superior. Whiting arrived there early in the day to hold a conference with Coolidge.

Luther Pullin 27 of Columbia City died of injuries received in an aus tomobile accident when he was driving a car through Detroit and was struck by another car containing three persons. He is survived by two daughters. e
