Fatally Injured Williard Shanteanis6 a farmer living a mile north of Walton was fatals ly injured Monday when he fell from a hay mow to the floor of the barnp in which he was -working. Santeau was pitching hay and slipped.
Police to Enforee Liguor Laws Special police employed by the Bartholomew county W. C. T. U. are on duty at Columbus at the county fair this week in an effort to enforcq the prohibition laws. As the fair grounds are outside the city limits city police have refused to extend their duties to the fair and Sheriff Linza Allen refused a request of the W. C. T..U. to appoint special deputies because he said he did not know whether or not county commissioners would stand for the expense. Then the dry organization employed its own officers.
Held For Leaving Aeceident Scene ' Paul Dillon 21 a bell hop was arrested by South Bend police as the driver of the car which struck Robert Emerick 10 Friday night. The boy died later from his injuries. Dillon failed to stop and instead turned out his light and drove rapidly away. Police received a confidential report that Dillon was the dl:iver and af, ter his arrest he made a confession,

The Tigers have been winning their games and the contest will be no easy one for the home boys. . ~ The Jimtown team is always ac‘companied by a small army of rooters and Ligonier fans will find plenty to do in their effort to offset this ‘influence. Typhoid Threatens Small Towns
One hundred smal ltowns in Indiana are in imminent danger of a typhoid fever epidemic similar to the one in Southport. Dr. William F. King state health board secretary stated upon re-, turn to his office at Indianapolis after a conference with officials of that town. ‘
During the last week there has been sixteen typhoid cases there resulting in two deaths. :

Squirrels Plentiiul
About the usual number of squirrels are available this season to the hunters according to nimrods early to take advantage of the open season, ‘which began Aug. Ist. New game laws fix the day’s limit at five gray or fox squirrels. No squirrels killed in Indiana can be offered for sale as a matter of protection to prevent wanton killing of the game. - :
Girl is Sentenced.
Kathryn McKenzie Vrielynck 19 was sentenced to serve thirty days in jail on a charge of bigamy at South Bend. She was also fined $lOO and costs. . She admitted that she married Henry Vrielynck without having obtained a divorce from Clarence Mcj Kenzie. ;
Dies in Detor’s Office.
David Smith aged 42 last March residence seven miles north of Columbia City a sufferer for several years from heart trouble died Monday afs ternoon in the office of Dr. J. Wi Luckey at Wolf Lake where he had gone fo r medical aid. :
Decatur Farmer Hurt
Robert Chronister 24 a farmer residing four miles southwest of Decatur escaped with minor-injuries late Sunday when the automobile which he was driving was struck by a Fennsylvania railroad freight train at thg Winchester street crossing near that city.

Charged With Murder in 1921
Charles L. Beatty 37 under indictment for seven years on a charge of murder growing out of the death of Sophia Wellman who was killed in an automobile accident was arrested at Indianapolis. ;
