Opening of Assembly Plant. | Thef ormal opening during the past week of the Chevrolet assembly plant in Atlanta. Ga., coming at a timé when a similar plant is under construction in Kansas City is further indication that there is to be mo let down®in the company’s extensive saleg program. ; e
The mammoth Atlanta plant, which has been in operation since May 1 18 capable of turning out 350 cars a day, and was the eighth assembly plant tq be opened by Chevrolet in this country. The Kansas City plant with thd same capacity will be the ninth. )
Atlantans last week welcomed their first opportunity of visiting the great assembly plant, and seeing the magid Chevrolet assembly line produce the world’s most popular automobile from a set of seemingly unrelated parts. Atlanta newspapers welcomed Chevrolet to the southeast, and viewed the plant as a southern institution. It was mainly southern contracting genius that built it in four months, one week and six hours, several dayy before the contracted time had expired. Southern help has been operating it ever since the first car rolled off the line. It serves the southeastern market exclusively supplying cars to the dealers of Georgia, North and South Carolina, Alabama and lorida . A southerner W. Come in and ask about our free grease job. Tyler’s Super Service Station Cor. of Union and Lincoln Way South . YOU SMOKERS, If You Have Been Skeptical of Five-cent Cigars To the gentlemen of the smoke jury—to you men who have reached the decision that you just can’t get a good smoke for five cents—we want to offer some new evidence. All we ask you to do is to try one more fivecent brand: Havana Ribbon. You're going to be surprised! At last, for the small sum of five cents you can get a cigar made entirely of ripe, long-filler tobacco. Never heard of such a thing? Maybe not. But it’s a joy’us reality now. Not a strand of bitter, raspy under-ripe nor a trace of insipid over-ripe tobacco usually found in low-priced cigars. Nor any short, loose ends to crumble in your mouth. No, sir, Havana Ribbon has the fragrance, mellow-mild-ness, rich flavor of fine tobacco at | its best. Because every leaf is fully RIPE. Risk one nickel, men—at any nearby cigar counter. Or, better still, try a Practical Pocket Package of five cigars. |

' Car In Three Days. : From bare frame to finished motor car in owner’s hands in three days—might be the title of this plece. It is another story with a new angle on the high speed methods popularized by the automobile. The principal character in the story is the Oakland Motor Car Company, with several railroads an dsteamshin lines interwoven into the theme. '
The story begins on a recent Tuesday when the Pontiac division of thg Oakland company had on hand scarce> ly enough car frames for a full day's ’ou'tput. Charles 0. Miller supervisor ’of purchases, got in touch with the suppliers the A. 0. Smith Company of Milwaukee. They had the frames in stock. R. L. Reese Oakland traffiq director got busy with the railroads; They promised every aid. On Tuesday morning d{he frames were loaded at Milwaukee on a Chiy cago, Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific train. The Grand Trunk ferry brought them to Grand Haven, Mich., where the Grand Trunk lines held up a crack train more than two hours tq get the shipment to Pontiac Michigan with all possible dispatch.
The frames arrived at the Pontiaa factory on Wednesday morning, werae immediately unloaded and started af one end of the assembly lines wherd in an hour they rolled off at the othey and completed cars. .
The Hokanson-Thompson Company, Oakland and Pontiac dealers for Mily waukee had sent in a hurry-up ordex for new Pontiacs. The cars were tak, en from the Pontiac production lind to Detroit and there loaded on a Nicholson Steamship ecompany boat on Wednesday afternoon. ' The boat docked at Milwaukee on Frj day morning the cars immediately were delivered to their destination arriv; ing in the purchaser’s hands by Friy day noon—the cars built on the identis cal frames sent from Milwaukee on Tueyday.
