Herald-Examiner Taking Poll Louie F. Hutchinson formerly of Goshen now wit hthe Chicago-Exami-ner is in Elkhart county far a few days taking the poll on presidential candidates for his paper. Every county in Wisconsin Illinois and Indiana is being covered by straw votq takers. In BElkhart county 2,500 posj tal cards are distributed 1,000 in the rural districts 1,000 in Elkhart city and 500 in QGoshen city. Theprinted postal cards are g!vep out at random and those to whom they arq given are requested ito return the card by mail to Chicago. The straw vote thus taken in the three states should give a line on the probable result next November, =

Soda Clerk Electrocuted

Death of H. D. Carpenter of Anderson a druggist electrocuted when he came in contact with a drink mixing machine at the soda fountain in his store has resulted in a $lO,OOO damage suit being filed against the city of Anderson by the administrator of Carpenter’s estate the Anderson Trust company.

It is alleged negligence on the part of persons in the employ of the muni,y cipal electric plant caused a high voltage wire to come in contact with a low power wire which provided current to the mixer. ¢

Chicage Boy Injured

Samuel Barasko a fresh air boy from Chicago who is spending twa weeks with Cornelius Weldy at Was karusa severely injured his left foo} Saturday afternoon. He had been foly lowing Mr. Weldy who was mowing weeds and had suddenly jumped aheadq catching his foot in the sickle bars of the mower. A deep gash was cut just below the ankle and it is feared that the boy will be crippled although much improvement was shown. He was ta; ken to the Elkhart General hospital.

Alleged Mail Robber Caught.

Charles Ross 19 Terre Haute was be ing returned from Aberdeen S. D, where he was arrested on federal postal charges in connection with robbery of the postoffice at Lewis, Vigo county June 8. : Ross was located at Redfield S. D. by Postal Inspector C. B. Speer who caused his arrest and removal.

Radio Aerial Kills Two.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer I. French are dead at Indianapolis as a result of electrocution. French was siringing a radio aerial when it came into con-

tact with a high tension line carrying 2,000 volts. Mrs. French in an attempt to aid her husband grasped him and also died from the shock.

New York Central Kills Four.

A family of four—a mother, Father and two sons was wiped out when a New York Central passenger train struck their car at a crossing one mila from Three Rivers Michigan. Theq family was enroute to Mishawaka, Ind., on a vacation trip. :

Mrs. Charlotte Elsea Dead

(Mrs. Charlotte Elizabeth Elsea 63 years old died at 5:20 o'clock Tuesday morning at her home 1008 South Seventh street. She suffered a stroke of paralysis on July 7th 1928 and since that time her condition has heen critical. . | The deceased was born in Adrian Mich., August 22 1860 the daughter of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Robert Chatten. She was married to Edwin M. Elsea at Benton Ind., in 1878 and resided on the Elsea farm in Benton township until 1911 when she came to Goshen, Her husband died August 17 1910.

Found By Readside - A youth whose name is believed to be Ladig was found unconscious along a highway east of Fort Wayne last night by passing motorists who took him to St. Joseph’s hospital.
