" While no definite date has been fixed for the president's departure from Washington, it is understood he and his official party will leave for the Pierce estate a few days uafter June 11, the date fixed tfor the government business meeting. The lodge ds approximately six miles from the small town of Brule, Wis. Present plans call for establishment of the executive office at Superior. . The Pierce estate is 12 hours by train from Chicago. , SR Library Meeting in West Baden. Delegates to the fiftieth annual meeting of the American Library association were gnests Thursday of Thomas Taggart, former United States- senator from Indiana, at an informal reception. . Attendance at the convention Wednesday exceeded 2,000. Speakers included Charles F. D. Blenden, director of-the Boston, Mass., public library, who urged greater efforts in educating the.public to library service. Herbert Putnam, librarian of congress and Senorita lsperanza Valezquez, head of the library department of Mexico’s ministry of edueation, also spoke. Mre. Lena Stansbury of Ligonier attended the meeting.

Most motorists know of the important part that cotton plays fn the sturdy carcass of an automobile tire. But it i not generally known that cotton fiber of length required for tire cords is raised in only two similar but widely separated areas. The delta regions of the Mississippi river, in this country, and of the Nile river in Egypt, produce almost all the cotton for the highest grade tires. |
Mummy Still in Tomb
The mummy of King Tut-Ankh-Amen was removed by Mr. Carter, under the permission of the Egyptian authorities, to the museum of Cairo for exhibition purposes. The inside of the golden coftin, the golden mask, with the shroud or pall, were also exhibited for a time and then Mr, Carter replaced the mummy in the sarcophagus or outside case in the tomb October 31, 1927. '

Slayer is Given Life Sentence.
Roman Luczkowski, 31, was found guilty of murdering his 50-year-old wife with a hammer, Tuesday night, and his punishment was fixed at life imprisonmgnt. The jury took six ballots during two hours of deliberation, and agreed on a verdict of second degree murder. '
Dies of Paralysis. Charles Abell, age 33, a native of Kendallville, and for a number of years a prominent resident of Garrett, died at his summer home at Lake Wawasee, of paralysis. Mr. Abell had been suffering from high blood pressure for mine years. Ten weeks ago he had a stroke of paralysis at Garrett from which he gradually improved.. The second siroke came while he was sitting on the porch of his cottage. He died an hour later. v
~To Recover From Gun Shot Wound. Jay Miller, of New Paris, who is in the Loveland. Colo., hospital with part of his ‘face shot away by a 45 calibre pistol, is not in a serious condition and is expected to be released within ‘the next week according to word received. George Kaser, forest ranger of Missoula, Mont., who held the gun that inflicted the wound, toid authorities the shooting was accidental.
