A JIM-DANDY NICKEL CIGAR
Made with Ripe Tobacco and Ripe Experience
When good tobacco and thirty years of cigar-making experience get ?dgether, you’re pretty sure of a good smoke. But when combined in a cigar you can buy for a nickel, man, you’ve found something! Here it is: Havana Ribbon. Value? Count back over the years—over the old-time purchasing power of a five-cent piece. Smoke a Havana Ribbon. You'll find your nickel buys a better cigar than it ever bought. Sheer xlrggularity has done it. Immense production enables the use of tobaccos usually considered too expensive %five-cent ciglars. Havana Ribbornis made entir ly of ripe tobacco —'the choice middle leaves of th%plant. No bitter underripe nor “flat” over-ripe leaves. Pura‘)fragrant, mellow-mild flavor of tobacco at its best. Long filler, too—no “cuttings” or short ends. Also sold in Practical Pocket Packages of five cigars,

- Hudeon-Essex established a new two-fold - record of 'popularity the first three months of this year in the United States as a whole, second in the export field, it is disclosed in a. Company message to the Hudson-Es-sex dealers for this vicinity. | Meantime, this popularity was confirmed locally when the new ‘vogue of tomorrw” Hudson-Essex cars were purchased by residents of this city and delivered to their owners making the largest March Hudson-Essex ever enjoyed in this city for the first three months of 1928 is far ahead of any previous figure. : : Indicating the world-wide interest in the “vogue of tomorrow’ series of Hudson-Essex cars, the export shipments for thesé three months were 14,634, as compared with 9104 a year ago an increase of more than 50 per cent. . Meantime the Hudson-Essex factory produced and shipped 91,600 cars io its organization in three months a record and the organization has sold 40 per cent more cars to the public at retail than in any other three winter months, the eompany stated. These sales are partly estimated and will probably be nearer a 45 per cent increase when -the final figures are known, it was said.
Race Drivers Use Guui-Dipped Tires. By Elijah & Roe ILnecal Firestone Service Dealer. : v Racing history repeats itself. Firestone Gum-Dipped tires, winners of every national championship for years, are again shattering all world’s records on the great speedways of the country. : The story has been the same. at every important race in years. Firestone equipped cars win all national championships. - The average man who owns a car necessarily should be assured of the same tire safety and dependability as the racing drivers who entrust their personal safety to Firestone iGum-Dipped tires. : Veterans of the spcedway under‘stand the extra strecnzih and speed built into a tire by reason of the exclusive Firestone Guin-Dipping process. They know that this imethod impregnates and insulates every codd of the carcass with live rubber reducing the possibility of internal friction and unifying -the whole structure of thie tira- : Moreover the Firestone scientifically designed balloon tire tread provides driving dependability and long mileage at low cost.
Chicken Owners Take Notice
Complaints have become so frequent to the police department that chicken owners permit their fowls to run at large and otherwise become a nuisance it is contrary to the provisicns of the city ordinances, it will be necessary to proescute offenders if the offense is not discontinued. Therefore all owners of chickens will take notice that all fowls must be kept penned up and under restraint This warning should be sufficient without legal action in the court. Lawrence Wolf, Ligonier Chief Police Dated April 16 1928. . 18a9

Beplacement Parts
The manufacture of replacement parts for the millions of Model “T” Ford cars still in daily use continues to demand nearly one third the production eapacity for Ford plants at Detroit. - , ! Ford officials estimaté from reports of dealers all over the country, that there are still approximately eight millions of the Model ‘T’ cars in constant use in the United States. Some of these cars are many years old. Every now and then there are reports of Ford cars of the old ‘brass-bound radiator types of twelve or fourteen years ago still running after more than a thousand miles of service. ' The newest of the Model “T” Fords is now nearly a year old, for the production of assembled Model TV cars was suspended in May 1927 to ‘make way for the new Model “A”. This suspension of assembled Model “T"” cars did not affect the production schedule of Model “T" rapladements parts however. Throughout the past yvear the manufacture of Model “T" parts continued to occupy avout one third the production capacity of the Ford plants. A few days ago nespaper correspondents asked Henry Ferd how long he expected to continue making parts for Model “T" ecars. “Until-rhc la_st. Model “1" is off the roads” Mr. Ford replied bromptly. Then he added: “That may be ten vears, but we do not intead to allow any Ford car ever to hecome obsolete as long as itc an be made useful with reasonable replacements” ‘Ford engineers, from tests and observdations made over a long period of years have estimated that the avlerage useful life of a Model “T” Ford car is about seven veuars.
