A Rosey Prediction
Indianapolis, April. 14-—*With Indiana’'s 33 delegates for Herbert Hoover in:the Kansas City convention he will be nominated on the first ballot” according to Oscar Foellinger Indiana manager for Mr. Hoover. “Even without Indiana’s 33 Mr. Hoover's nominaticn could not be delayed beyond the third ballot at longest, for infermation yived from Washington indicates that he is certain to have 536 on the first ballot which would be but 9 short of the number necessary to nominate and which does not take into account 128 delegaies whose second chgice is Hoover.” : ' “Our information comes fron: a tabulation made by National Committeeman, William M. Crocker after he had attended the meeting of the Republican Natienal Committec in Kan sas City where he obtained data fiom every state in the Union. _ ; ““To this first baliot strength’ for Mr. Hoover may be added on later ballots if needed 128 more delegates, bringing the total Hoover strength up to 660 or 115 mcore than needed to nominate. All this without Indiana. “Reports from every district and mearly every county in Indiana within the last 48 hours makes certain in my opinion, that the Toover 'tidal" wave has struck Indiana with a force that makes it irresistible. The opposition is making a great dea! of noise is merely the squeaks and rattles of an old political macaine that is about ready to fall apart. “We know sections of Indiana where there is every -indication that Mr. Hoover will poll a vote of four or five to one over his opponent. Our polls show the ratio to be as great as ten and fifteen to one. bat in some places we are not making the foolish claim that the balloting will show up that stronglv. in Mr. Hoover's favor.”

Outlook Good. «
Keen enthusiasm over the industrial outlook for the coming Summer and 11 was voiced here today by officials of) the Chevrolet Motor company uptheir return from country-wide dealers meetings that brought them snto direcy contact with representatives of every city, town and hamlet in the United States. : - Thirty-six such meetings held at as many key centers during the past ten weeks, afforded the Chevrolet executives an éxcellent opportunity to see and study at first hand the various factors that determine the business future. , Confidence that the abnormal prosperity enjoyed last year would con‘tinue in accelerated measure well into 1928 was cxpressed both by R. H. Grant vice president in charge of s les, whose official = party traveled throughout the East; and H. J. Klingler general sales manager who headed a second group that covered the West. : Among the favorable factors noted were: Small and relatively few areas of depression; no disturhing political issues; widespread employment, with unemployment at normal; a winter and spring advantageous to the farmer ; -large building and construction programs under way and a general realization that the “presidential year” bugaboo is purely a mental hazard and not a deterrent to busi-

ty aparently had saved nothing from the political smashup which overturned administration candidates for all state offices and all major offices in Cook county. ‘

National Delegates Chosen
~ Leaders jn the free-for-all battle of ballots for presidential delegates retained their advantages today on the face of returns from four state pri3xnaries and conventionss at which 155 Kansas City and Houston votes were at stake. - : ~ Lowden picked up at least 30 of the 90 district delegates chosen in the Illinois Republican primary boosting his total to 130 pledged and claimed convention votes to date. Hoover who did not' figure in yesterday’s balloting still has a lead of 181 instructed and claimed delegates. - On the Democratic side Governor Smith garnered at least 47 of the 50 district delegates chosen in Illinois and ran his total of pledged and claim ed detegates to 241. Nebraska’s 16 votes already had been conceded former Senator Hitchcock and a tumultu‘ous convention in Oklahoma selected an uninstructed delegation composed of Smith and Reed supporters. Smith's big lead in the race for the nomination at Houston is expected to be increased by eight when the Democratic state convention meets in lilnois to select that many declegates at large and complete the delegate slate of 58 from that state.
