Defendants Are Convieted. ~ Harry F. Sinclair William J. Burns W. Sherman Burns and Henry Mason Day were held in contempt of court Tuesday for their part in shadowing jurors in the recent Fall-Sinclair Teapot Dome conspiracy trial. Sinclair was sentenced to six months in a common jail and W. .J. Burns to 15 days. Day was sentenced to four months W. Sherman Burnps was fined $l,OOO. This ruling was made by Justice Frederick L. Siddous of the District of Columbia supreme court. He declared a mistrial in the Teapot- Dome case when advised that Sinclair had hired Burns detectives to shadow the jury.
~ Mr. Stansbury, Landlord. By acquiring the Yorkey residence property next to his home place on Martn street C. R. Stansbury became the owner of four dwelling houses in Ligonier. The new purchase will be Tedecorated and the interior improved at once with paint and paper and the outside repainted as.soon as the weather will permit. About the middle of March the property will be ready to remt. Mr. Stansbury will have a garage built in the rear of a property he owns at the corner of Lincoln Way West and Grand street.
Manslaughter Charge Filed. The case of the state against Edward ‘Kraft prominent bowler of Fort Wayne who is charged with involuns tary manslaughter in connection with the death of Charles Pens was set for trial April 23. Peng died as the result of injuries SllSt‘dand when he was hit by the car driven by Kraft.

Car Upsets Catches on Fire. A Dodge sedan in which Dale Hall and family of Sidney were riding, caught fire after turning over into a snow drift near the twin bridges six miles southeast of Warsaw. No one was seriously injured but the auto was badly damaged.

Patterson 77 one of the gounders and president of the Akron Exchange State bank died at his home Monday of cancer. He resided in Akron for 42 years and was one of the pioneer business men of the town, Cranks Auto; Rarctures Arm. Harry Wolf of Btna who claimed to have been kidnapped a few weeks ago and taken to South Bend suffered another misfortune when he sustained a fractured arm while cranking an automobile.

Charles Rowe, 30, who was arrested near Kendallville last week for Elkhart authorities, pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to provide for his children and was sentenced to theg penal farm for 180 days and fined $31.83 : Gun Kills Farmer e Frank Brooking 46 prominent Lawrence county farmer accidentally shot and killed himself while attempting to climb over a fence with a shotgun in ihs hand. The cast for the entertainment includes twenty-five artists embracing much of the musical talent of the city. These actors are rapidly rounding into condition under painstaking rehearsals and they will appear on the stage fully equal to professionals. The songs and skits offered will certainly bring down the house. . 'Among the specialty features will be the dusky sisters, Dipsy and Neva in song. _ _

Ashley Man Disappears. Herbert Borst of Ashley driver of the automobile which ran over and fatally injured Ralph Bullared aged 78 has disappeared and his absence has prevented Coroner Clark from returning a verdict. Borst with Asa Little Lincoln Roe and Donald Wysong were pulling an automobile to Ashley At Ashley Bullard in crossing the street tripped over the tow rope and fell under the rear car and was ruu over.. He died later from the injuries. ; v
* Check Forgers On Trial. Harold Miller and Jane Borden of South Bend who were arrested several weeks ago in Elkhart on charges of check forging appeared i nsuperior court at Elkhart charged with congpiring to defraud. They have been in the county jail at Goshen since their arrest because of failur eto supply bond. o ;
Injured When Load Turns Over. Harry Howard 41 residing west of Ormas sustained a scalp wound that required three stitches to close and numerous bruises when a load of hay upset in the driveway leading to his barn. He was found dazed by Mrs. Howard. : Wawaka Loses to Millersburg. .~ Wawaka was defeated by the Millersburg basketball team at Milersburg by a score of 31 to 29. The Millersburg seconds also won over the Wawaka seconds 31 to 11.

To Establish Orphanage. * A decision to open an orphanage on the Bashor farm four milles west of Goshen was reached at a meeting of the trustees of the Bashor Orphanage association an dthe finance committee of the North Indiana conferencc, Women's Home Missionary society, at a meeting held Tuesday at Wesley Hall First M. E. church in Goshen. A building committee was appointed, and plans were made to remodel and rebuild the stone farm house on the Bashor farm and convert it into a building suitable for an orphanage.
Medics Meet Tonight. The Northeastern Indiana Academy of Medicine wil lmeet at the Gawthrop hotel Kendallville this evening. Dinner -will be served at 6:30 o’clock. This is the first of a series- of lectures from the Extension Course furnished by the School of Medicine of Indiana University. ‘Diseases of the Heart” will be discussed by Dr. George S. Bond of Indianapolis who is affiliated with the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Monday evening Miss Martha Hutchison entertained her music pupils at her home on Union St. The first feature of the evening’s entertainment was a recital given by the pupils.
