Hizer 18 years old a high'schbol student wa sarrested at Fort Wayne Saturday charged with using the mails to defraud. He had sent two checks to Chicago mail order houses one for $152:42 and one for $179.15 and ordered merchandise shipped to him ‘under a fictitiong name. His bond has been fixed ' at: $5,000. ‘ Fire Causes Heavy Damage Fire caused heavy damagc to the K. B. Schmidt Packing Co. buildings at Niles Michigan Friday night when a fire of unknown origin started between the boiler room and the main killing room. The loss is estimated at from $30,000 to $50.000.

Geese Witnesses Gabble. Because the trained geese of Bertram Coombs of Mémphis, Ind., per< formed when he found them in a New| Albany poultry store Coombs got back| his honking pets and Lawrence Ehringer 17 must serve 1-to-10 years in the state reformatory for stealing them. : v Coombs following the trail of his geese recognized them at the poultry| house and convinced the proprietor| that they belonged to him by having |, them give a vaudeville act with him-|. self as stage director. The dealer| identified Ebringer as the person who sold the fowls. Ehringer pleaded guilty and his sister who was with him when he sold the geese pleaded not guilty to a charge of receiving| stolen property.- She went to jail in ‘ default of %500 bond.
