Three bank books, showing a bal« ance of $5,000, including accrued inters est, were found and turned over to the public administrator of New York city by Mrs, Juliet O’Keefe of 679 East One Hundred and Seventy-ninth street, The Bronx. : The books were found underneath a carpet in Mrs. O’Keefe’s home, and at the suggestion of her brother, who is & lawyer, Edward J. Kiely of 357 Ful. ton street, Jamaica, Mrs. O'Keefe transferred them to the administrator, The name in the books show that they belonged to Thomas Griffin, one of Mrs. O’Keefe’'s boarders when she ran a large boarding house twelve years ago, at 129 East One Hundred and. Fiftieth street. Griffin was a street car conductor and had come from Salem. On May 25, 1903, he was taken to Fordham hospital, seriously ill, and he died there after an operation. He did not reveal the presence of the bank books. Presbyterian Church Notes. . “The Bend in the Road” was the theme of the Communion Meditation yesterday morning as being suited to the new year. The musical program. was carried out as announced.. . This week we resume the Christian Endeavor and mid-week meetings, Monday and Wednesday evénings respectively. ~ Lad Dies of Injuries Injuries sustained a week ago Wednesday while engaged in play in tha gymnasium at the Wayne Center school resulted -in death early Friday morning for James Leo Brown age 14 years son of Mr. and Mrs, James Brown residing six and onehalf miles north of this city. Tha youth died at 3 o’clock this morning at the aScred Heart hospital Garrett following an operation which he underwent a few hours before. The lad a pupil at the Wayne Cen-+ ter school was playing in the gymnasium at the school with other schoolmates Wednesday December 21 and during play tripped and fell tg 'the floor causing a severe abdominal injury. Adhesions developed and his condition soon after became serious.
