Watson Booster Club Formed The first concerted “Watson for President” move is under way at Noblesville. A s At a meeting of 600 persons the Watson Booster ‘;Club of Indiana was organized. A resolution adopted by the meeting said “the republicans of Hamilton county wish to present tc the people of Indiana and ask the people of Indiana tc present to the country the name of James E. Watson senior senator from Inidana, for the }republicap nomination for president of the United States in 1928.”

Nowels Reunion. The sixteenth annual reunion of the Nowels cousins was held at the pleasant country home of XMr. and Mrs. Wm. Meroney 6n_Sunday Sept. the fourth there beinz’ 112 present at the noon hour the table was laden with the good things to eat. In the afternoon a shcrt program was given after which ice cream and cake was served. Members were present from Galesburg, 111., Indianapolis, LaFayette, Kendallville, Rome City LaGrange, Howe, Fort Wayne, Huntington, Elkhart Goshen Wolcottville Topeka and Ligonier. They all departed for their homes hoping to all meet again next year at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rollo Eagleson of Wolcottville. A Guest.
Take 80 Bootleggers In South Bend. A force of 32 prohibition agents working under the direction of George L. Winkler deputy prohibition administrator for Indiana Thursday descended on South Bend and served 80 warrants on bootleggers who have been operating there over a period of eight months or more. The evidence was obtained by undercover men. ;
The arrests are being made independently of the South Bend police department Winkler stated. He will immediately begin proceedings to padlock 76 places. Much of the evidence on which arrests are being made was' obtained during the recent convention of the American Legion.
Fireman Save Life of Laporte Child. ~ The life of Jimmy Conlon two years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Conlon five miles northeast of Wanatah was saved Tuesday afternoon by two Chicago firemen who happened to be driving past the Conlon home. The child had been eating a carrot and a part of it became lodged in his ‘thoat. Mrs Conlon found the child nnconscious and rushed into the yard an dstopped a car in which the firemen were riding asking them to rush the child to a doctor. The firemen used artificial respiration and revived the child.
Makes Big Booze Haul Deputy §heriff Honess captured two automobile loaded with beer single handed and Sheriff Charles Zimmerman caught Joseph Hathaway driver of one of the cars in a cross country chase near Angola. The other driver escaped. Hathaway pleaded guilty in the city court Wendesday to a charge of transporting. liquor- and was sentenced to six months in the penal farm and fined $2OO. Fifty-seven cases of beer were found in the two cars. The cases of beer had been cleverly covered with burlap. Fire Causes Damage. , Fire traceable to the burning of rubbish in the furance in the residence of Kenneth Waugh at Columbia City caused damage estimated at $2,000. Most of the furniture was removed from . the house. ; Forming Marshall Clubs. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.
Notice is hereby given :that the ‘Board of County Commissioners of Noble County, Indiana at their office in the Court House, in the town of Albion, Indiana, will receive sealed proposals for the improvement of a certain highway known as the John H. Conrad Road, in Perry township in said county, by grading, draining and paving the same with gravel as set out in the plans, specifications and profile therefor now on file it the ‘office of the Auditor of said Noble County. Sealed proposals for the contract for such improvement will be received up until, and will be opened at two olclock p.m. on Monday, October 3rd, 1927. . :
Bids submitted shall be for the completion of said improvement in accordance with said plans, specifications,and profile therefor now on file in the office of said Auditor and shall ‘include all labor and material required for said work. Each bid must be mccompanied by a personal or surety bond in a sum equal to double the amount of the bid filed for said work, to be approved by said Board of Comméssioners. Said bond shall be conditioned for the faithful performance of said work; the sureties thercon, if personal, shall be resident freeholders of the State of Indiana one of whom shall be a resident ofisaid Noble county and said bond shall be for the benefit of any person, {-pe!‘sons, firm or corporation who shall suffer any loss-or damage by jreason of any snch bidder failing to or neglecting to enter nto a proper contract to perform said work ‘as it is awarded by said Board of Commissioners, .or to carry out said work in any particular, or to pay for an¥ labor or material which may be furnished to any such contractor or contractors, superintendent or agent under him in the construction of said work. Said improvement will be let as a whole to the lowest responsible bidder upon affidavit of non-collusion, which affidavit must be submitted with the bid, and upon failure to submit such affidavit such prcposal will be rejected by the Board, and the ‘Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Time for the completion of said work will be agreed upon at the letting of said contract by the Board of Commisioners and the successful bidder. _ ;
