Charles Coffey Chicago bootlegger was found guilty of first degree murder by a jury in the St. Joseph Michigan circuit court. McNutt dean of the Ilaw; school of ‘lndiana university, McNuit is being boomed for national commander of the American Legion. Mrs. Vaun Scott Seybert of Indianapolis. was elected president of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion at the business session. While running 4 small launch for a seven-year-old: lad the engine took fire while out 150 yards from shgre. He first swam with the lad to the shore near the Spurgeon cottage. ‘Then returned and brought the burning boat to shore with safety. ‘ Fined For Fietitious Plates.
Marzella Miller 20 year old .vouth ’was arrested at Noble county Thursday and placed in jail to serve out a $35 fine for using fictitious licensg plates. The plates were . juggled around so that the youth was riding with anotlier man’s license plates, Prosecutor Lincoln stated the youth was suspected of taking paét in other robberies. ' Phil Farren Granted Penison. Band director Phil Farren of Colunibia City has received notice that hig application for pension as a SpanishAmerican war veteran has been favorably acted upon at Washington. He will receive a $3O monthly pension with back-pay.
