The four protestant churches have joined 4n a vacation school to last four weeks the sessions to be held at the Prasghyterian church in this city. The school opened Tuesday moraing with Mrs. G. H. Bacheler ‘is supervisor. ' The teachers are: ' ‘Music—Mary Jane Hire. Junior— Buryl Taylor. ' Intermediate—Mrs. Zook Primary—Margaret Hite. Eighteen pupils were present at the opening session. ;

Grant Himes and son Arthur of Goshen attefided the Memecrial exercises at Ligonier Monday. They were accompanied by their guests Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Kinnison and Miss Lucy Prosbst of Toledo.

Death of Aged Lady.
Mrs.. Emma Smith aged about 90 vears died Sunday at the home of a son -in Cromwell. -The funeral was beld Tuesday from the late home and the remains laid in the Valley cemetery. o B

The annual commencement * and field day exercigses for . the rural schools of Noble county at Albion Wednesday drew ‘a large crowd and the program was highly enjoyed.

John H. and Harry Green Tuesday sold and shipped to Armour & Co., for their New York market five car loads of fine steers. The animals averaged 1,300 pounds each in weight;

The Noble county onion crop has been injured according to authorities by the cool weather and recent rains. Much of thel ow ground was under water. '

Prayer ‘meeting Thursday evening at 7:30, : | We have changed our prayer meeting from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening, for various reasons, We are glad to note the good attendance at the prayer meeting. We wculd be glad to see many more in this very important service. Too many times this is the smallest attended service of the church. But it ishauld not be so, for it is very important to the spiritual life of the individual and the church. Now if you have not been in the habit of attending the prayer service, please get in the habit. We will be studying the suibject of prayer throughout this month, will ycu not start in tonight. Ladies Shoes ¥Found.
Childrén while playing along -the baaks of the Elkhart river last Friday morning found three pairs. of ladies .shoes and another pair which had been mutilated.” All had 'a porticn of the heels cut off. ; Police Chief Wolf brought the shoes up town in a basket in an effort to locate the owners. - . One shoe was floating in the river and was retrieved by a dog. ' The footwea rhad been placed in the grass about two rods west of the Martin street river bridge. Pieces of elastic which had been cut into scraps were found with the shoes.
Dollar Bills Smaller.
A reduction in the size .of payper currency was approved today by Secretary Mellon who announced that the first of the new form of money wculd be ready for circulation in about a year. ; Theb ills will be reduced about one and one-third inches in length and 3-4 of an inch in width, with a lowering in manufacturing -costs of about $2000,000 annually. £
To Tour Counties.
County agents of northeastern Indiana will make a tour of Wabash, Whitley Noble and Allen counties o 1 July 28 with representative bankers in the four counties in order to acquaint the bankers of the counties with the farm problems of today as they really are according to announcement made today. :
To Develop Lake Resort.
- Lake Papakeechie is to be extensively improved according to announcements recently made. Plans ecall for the construction of a hard surface road around the lake which contains 325 acres. One of the features which is being advertised is the fact that no motor boats are allowed on the lake and the fishing conditions are ideal.
Death of Aged Minister.
Rev. Henry Lacey 68 died on Wednesday morning at his home:in Fort Wayne following an {liness from a complication of diseases. = Rev. Lacey was a minister of the Mcthodist Episcopal church in North Indiana conference 32 years. He was at one time located in Wawaka. : 4
Paved Road at Wawsaee.
The completion of theg ravel road from the countyv line highway to the Jones’ aLnding crossing of the Baltimore & Ohio raiiroad and then over the new road back of the cottages to the Sargent hotel at Wawasee was bezun Tuesday morning. Gravel will be placed on the road starting at the Sargent sidewalk.

‘Willie Gushwa says his Dodge touring car :was slightly damaged when he ran into a Whitley county washout one day last week. The fenders, windshield axle, steering gear and top were broken.
