' The Oakland Car. f You need not make any extended | comparisons to understand why thel Greater Oakland Six is so emphatically preferred by those who demand of their cars not only satisfying beauty la.nd performance but also unusually long life and reliability. ; } The answer lies in the fundamental principle of Oakland construction—‘because the Oakland Six is built to a degree of precision® previously unknown in cars of its price! { True Oakland provides unexampled beauty and style by the usesof superior Fisher bodies; and an éltraordinary . agility smoothness and silence by employing such advanced engineering features as the exclusive Rubber Silenced Chassis and the Harmonic bal.ancer. But by working to limits that once typified the hand-built car by following such extra-ordinary practices as diamond boring all piston pin bushings and balanceing all rotating parts from transmission to rear axle Oakland achieves a resistance to wear tear and road shock that actually borders on the unbelievable. . You need only to talk to veteran Cakland owners —or observe veteran Cakland Sixes in action— to understand why the trend of fine car buying continues to swing so strongly toward the Greater Oakland Six. : Closing Options On 011 Wells, .ames W. . Beauty and Taste in all Detalls, 8 . Essex Super Six appearance is now similar to that of Hudson. The whole line is characterized by a higher radiator of smoothly hounded contour and nickel finish. From the radiatof the hood sweeps back pleasingly to the windshield panel. The front of the car is made attractive with a motometer, standard equipment, and by bullet-shaped lamps which harmonize with the streamlines. The fenders are full crown and rounded off with smooth - well proportioned curves. ; Further back, piano type hinges and well shaped windows assist the whole smooth running plan of design. The window mdldings are designed with reveals which set them oif attractively. A streamline molding sweeps from front to rear of the body. The cars are finished in lacquer with neat striping effects. : - % Within the same degree of care and taste is evident. In front of the drier is an exceptionally handsome instrument board. It is lacquered to match the exterior color. In a neat panel of contrasting color all instruments are arranged covered with glass and in- | directly lighted. Such small items as the light and ignition switches, etc,, are neatly designed and finished. The" parking brake is out of the way, and vet convenient for ready action. ‘Other controls are so well placed that they seem to fit naturally into the hands. : In all motor cars the first-qualities of course are performance and endurance but care in detail such as exemplified .in these cars is convincing in its suggestion of fine workmanship { throughout.” Such superiorities in fact are the finishing touches to sound design and high quality. The Essex Supper-Six owner may know his car is unexcelled in all items which make for his satisfaction. ‘ ~ Tremendous Increase A tremendous increase in retail deliveries of new Chevrolt automobils throughout the country during the first two months of 1927 as compared with, the same period of 1926 is shown in the following report compiled by the Chevrolet Motor Company. » The magnitude of this increase isi indicated in reports from thirty-two of ‘ the most important trading areas in | the 'United- States and shows an av't erage increase of 97.4% in these cen-! ters for the first two months of 1927 as compared with 1926. | The increase is striking evidence of! the country-wide and constantly mounting demand for the Chevrolet car—a demand which caused the Chevrolet Motor Company to reach a new high peak of preduction -during February of this year of 85,821 cars—and still further marking the com*pany’s preemience as the world’s largest manufacturers of gear shift automobiles. : .
